Just tell them you'll test drive it for 120 miles. Problem solved...

I drove it for 10 before signing paperwork, so shows 18 on title. Your friend can track the ship and time the arrival of the car (within the day) to the dealer through the person he dealt with a PCNA/Exclusive for all the CXX options. I would also recommend telling the dealer to not wash it, only take off the required stickers and have his own detailing guy do the first wash, etc(paint correction, PPF, and Ceramic).
This is simply not true. Every dealer will test-drive a car during the PDI process, and whether or not the car has CXX options or some unique stitching has no relevance to the matter.

You have a beautifully configured car, by the way.

"Congratulations, you just won a lottery!"

"Oh yeah?!? what's the prize".

"I get to drive your car.".

Ok. I get they might put a couple (less than 5 miles or so is reasonable) during a PDI. But up to 120 test miles by randomly selecting cars at the dealer? On a customer's ordered car, not just regular inventory? That's insane. I personally have never seen that on any brand. What are the typical miles driven during a Porsche PDI? Usually the only time a car arrives with more than say, 30-40 miles, it because it was tested at "factory". Never heard of a dealer testing these cars and putting tons of miles on them unless its a Demo (hence not a customer's ordered car).

Thanks.

Is it possible PCNA wants to lend the car to the press for a drive?

All the dealer needs is a few minutes in the car to make sure the service pdi was done correctly and there are no other issues ... usually covered during the drive to get it filled up for the customer.

My last couple of cars had less than a mile difference between offload and delivery ... anything much more than that is suspect and there's no reason for it.

How would you explain a SA telling the customer their car may have 120 extra miles on it after offload?

Its probably Doug Demuro doing a review of it so they picked your car. No worries he barely pushes the car. Just make sure the owners manual is still in the glovebox. BTW has Doug done a review of the 991.2 GT3 yet or is he wasting time on Tesla Model 3's?

The PDI test drive can be as short as 2 miles or as long as 100 miles depending on who does your PDI, lol.

My car’s PDI was done personally by the SA, on the way to and from the shop who did the clear bra. The place was about 15 miles away from the dealer and my delivery miles were less than 50.

I make sure to tell at least 10 times to the SA that I do not want my car to be driven around for more than needed, and no one else but a trusted SA or mechanic.

Meanwhile.. on the other end of the mileage spectrum... this incredible CGT was just restored by Porsche Classic and delivered to ATL PEC with two tenths of a mile.

The dealers were directed to put 45 miles on the 2014 GT3s after the engines were replaced - even if they were replaced at the port. That's the only time I ever heard about PCNA telling the dealers to put some miles on the cars...

I recall a story about a car in India where the dealer refused to deliver the guys car and it was used in a Porsche India event, they denied it was his when he saw pics etc. I think it turned out it was indeed his car, don't recall how it turned out.

My friend did respond to the SA via email this afternoon and told them not to drive the car even to get fuel. He also told him that he thought it was highly unusual that Porsche would authorize someone to drive a highly optioned custom GT3 CXXX car (with a large deposit ) for a 120 mile test period. He asked for a contact at PCNA to speak to regarding this issue. He is going to call PCNA in the am to ask about the whole situation.
Thanks for the replies and advice....
I will update the thread ......

When I was in high school and my boss at the pizza joint asked me to take his 85 Targa to get washed and put gas in it it would often take me 30-40 miles + 2 hours to do so. I suspect the request is perfectly normal and of no concern. Just a normal joy ride. Surprised they asked permission.
