Default Need Help...Dealer Trade Values / Consignment

Here's the situation. I'm moving from my .2 GT3 to a .2 RS.

I purchased my 991.2 GT3 from my dealer this past May. Custom order, $173k, purchased at sticker with no ADM.

My dealer got me an allocation for a 2019 GT3 RS. Now in production, delivering in January. This car is also being sold to me at sticker $238k (Weissach, PCCB's, etc.).

The dealer has offered me $157k for my current GT3 ($16k less than I paid...without taxes, of course) in lieu of marking these cars up with ADMs.

Could any of you help shed some light on what I should expect on trade-in values? Is their offer fair?

Should I be asking them to sell it "on consignment" and profit share or something?

Thanks for any words of wisdom here! Like any of us, I hate thinking about losing money, but I'm trying to be cognizant of the situation and the dealer is a close personal friend so I'm just trying to make sure this deal is fair on both sides.

FAIR.

You are are contradicting yourself. This is a business deal. You have a used car. It is not a solid gold flying unicorn that ****s diamonds.

When will this craziness stop.

Completely fair given new .2 GT3s are selling for msrp now. It’s less than you’d pay for market on a RS anyway. Go for it!

really? Where can I get more than one right now for msrp? Msrp is the far exception.

This is a very fair deal. Dealer is giving you a reasonable trade in. Is it an exceptional trade in? No. But name one time where someone said - wow! I got a great trade in offer!!

never happens.

take the deal. I’d be happy with it.

I misspoke. Lightly used GT3s are going for msrp, not new. Either way, a good deal IMO with the tax benefit too.

Fair, especially if you get a tax credit for trade-in.

Great. Really appreciate it. Just needed to check the box, mentally, for my own sake.

Okay so you should get the tax credit. Does it make a difference if you trade the car back in 2018 and take delivery of your new one in 2019? I don't know the answer. Just raising the question.

Yes, there'll be a fairly large tax benefit to trading. I don't believe the difference in year will have any effect.

Hah! I didn't post any pics but it really does resemble a solid gold flying unicorn sh*tting diamonds. Especially with the sport exhaust engaged!
