the dealer has to make some money , so 16 k below sticker on GT3 is not bad and they are giving you GT3RS at sticker
personally I am happy when dealer make money on my cars , so they stay in business
business transaction has to be beneficial for both sides
Porsche just released new allocations for GT3 , so more people will get these cars at sticker as there is more supply , so sticker for a used GT3 might be a hard sell

What was your expectation regarding trade value ?
Your dealership has sold you two GT cars for MSRP, most RL’s would give their left nut for that.
Your tax savings will offset a lot.
This is a no brainer, but curious on your rational to seek an option on this.

The dealer's trade-in offer is basically slightly under 10% off MSRP. This is not unreasonable given that the dealer has to make some money on the car at re-sale AND you are getting the .2 3RS at MSRP. I would have taken this deal in a heartbeat had it been on the table when I got my .2 3RS allocation @ MSRP. Good luck!

My GT3 was my first GT car so I really just wanted to make sure that the deal sounded fair to others who have been in a similar situation before and I don't have any close friends or acquaintances to poll so I took to RL.

OP should be fortunate (or lucky) that he/she got both GT cars at MSRP.

Two cars at msrp...and u lose 16 which you are not really losing because of tax credit.
hmmm u are either very lucky or you are dealing with good dealer.
all got was promises of msrp....and no car.
i had to pay more like some others paid.

At the end of the day he still has to make money on this transaction. And the RS transaction too.

they are paying you invoice price for the GT3 after you drove it for 6 months...I'd say that's a really fair deal and they will likely try to CPO your car for 3500 or whatever internal cost so they can make a few beans on it.
these type of transactions are why Porsche dealers are able to sell Macans and other 4 door cars at a discount.

Your friend did you a solid. Return the favor and let him make some money on the trade. That’s one hand washing the other.
Also if he is really a friend why would you need to backstop the deal with total strangers on a forum?

Wisdom item (2) The trade in value of your car to the dealer is the value of your car at auction.
Corollaries to wisdom items (1) & (2):
If the selling price of the new car seems like a really good deal (like sticker), you need to think - "he's robbing me blind on my trade." And vice versa. IOW, never think of the deal as consisting of two separate deals - trade price and new car price. From a profit (or, successful deal) standpoint, the two are inseparably linked. You can be sure the dealer is in that frame of mind.
Consignment? Bad. You give away 10% of what the car is sold for. Your consignment car competes with his inventory - which gets sold first?
Tax advantages having nothing to do with whether or not you got a good deal.

Just so he can show us he is getting an RS at sticker.

Dealer offered me an allocation on a 19" RS, $203k sticker, trading in my 18 GT3 161k sticker, 14 months old, for $73K + tax/lic. Am I crazy for considering this???
