I went the opposite direction. Ordered an AMG GTR, then switched to the GT3. Good thing I don't live in Australia, where the gears are too tall and where the GT3 doesn't come with rear-wheel steering.

Wow. You must be addicted to torque if the GT3 engine did nothing for you.

The gears are maybe tall-ish but no way near what OP says. 9000rpm equals 70km/h in 1st and 130km/h in 2nd.

I would say the OP is nuts, but he’s really not. I love my .2 GT3 and with PDK it can always find the powerband within a second or two.

However, this past weekend, it was nice and cool and I took my 2010 ZR1 out and it was great fun and so fast. That LS9 loves cold air. I come home, look at my GT3 still dirty from a track day the week prior and decide to run it over to the wand wash place for an excuse to drive and to clean it up.

It actually felt a little slow by comparison. I mean it still built speed, but it was the first time I really noticed the torque deficit. Not a fair comparison, but still a reality.

i still love the GT3 though!!

yes this is correct maybe over estimated the gear speed it’s actually 1st gear 77 kms 2nd 122kmph.
For Australia and Sydney roads to find the fun I could use only two gears .
The New beast suits me really well... love it and happy.
Took it on the forest twist road today and it is really quick though heaps of fun with the gear changes with pops and bangs and great brakes great turn in and it has a heap of grip. Pretty happpy. For those who have not had a drive, do yourself a favour and take one for a spin. Im really happy

for those who would like to see the painted black interior photo of the dumped GT3 it’s attached ... it looked amazing ... though I just wasn’t in love when I was driving it

Each to their own, though why did you sell the amg gtr ? Was it cause you may lose some $$$ or for something else like the way it drives / handles / looks .
For my mind $$$ come a far second to being happy with my purchase .l
Though a lot of GT / select P owners are far to concerned with resale, maybe because that is the only way some can afford to own a Porsche knowing their hard earned isn’t all lost.
money isn’t my motivating factor as to what I buy .

I think a week is long enough for someone to say they’re not enjoying a sports car and decide to sell it.

congratulations on the new ride..... best of luck and fun with it!

I went 3 months and stayed Porsche from 18 GT3 PDK to 991.2 TTS..... low end torque was part of the reason....easier drivability for a DD

Considered AMG GT but my experience with AMG is poor reliability when run hard and super steep depreciation....dealers not great either.... notch below Porsche....

OP will have fun with it though.....they run great.....sound great...... handle better than Benzes used to..... little more exclusive...

I have both MT gt3 and gtr..bth awesome capable cars..but very different..gtr feels like a track muscle car where as gt3 feels lighter more nimble and I mean sounds intoxicating...they are both wins in their own way..gtr has a crazy presence and cool sound as well..congrats on new purchase!

Maybe it's the PDK that lets me feel/extract it better (I always feel like manual cars feel less powerful for whatever reason), but I can jump from my modded/tuned 991.2 GTS with close to 500lb/ft of torque into my GT3 and the GT3 feels really damn quick. I originally sold my 991.1 GT3 partially because I was unhappy with the lack of torque, but so far the 991.2 GT3 feels like it has enough torque everywhere in the rev range and I have zero complaints. Yeah it's not a turbo car, but it pulls way stronger than the 991.1 and way stronger than I had expected.
Same here. I found the 991.2 GT3 with PDK has just about right amount of torque below 3500 rpm and starts to take off above 5000. My previous GT4 definitely needs more low-end torque around town. My Shelby GT350 has more torque on paper but that thing feels like a pig below 4000 rpm. Maybe it is PDK doing the trick by seemingly keep the car in the right rev range.

Anyways, there is no comparison between GT3 and modern turbo cars in terms of torque. Just a personal preference. Enjoy the AMG!

Nothing to do with resale. Just didn't like the long hood of the GTR and there were a bunch of things I would have changed after getting the car that would have added another $20K to the price of the car. That, and the reliability issues that people were reporting AND the crappy attitude of most MB dealers and owners I encountered. Porsche has a much better community and dealer support. And I wanted more of a track toy than a German muscle car. If I could own both, sure. I'd take both. Hell, I'd have 40 cars if I could. But the GT3 just fits me better after seeing/driving both. Do I wish the GT3 had 500 lb-ft of torque to match its HP? Sure. But the gearing isn't an issue for me. And the lack of torque isn't either since I can put down better lap times on a track than some people in cars with way more torque. Torque isn't an issue on a race track. Only at stop lights.
