He definitely crashed because it was a touring and not a standard GT3. Also PDK does a better job (obviously) in downshifting, further increasing the likelihood of him actually stopping sooner. Could also blame the PCCB's too, I hear they need heat to work and it's fairly cold in Wales in November...

Burning Brakes
A Friend totalled his brand new GT3 at Daytona hitting the wall at over 100 MPH pushing
his front bumper into the cabin firewall chasing his "instructor" driving his 458 who advised
him to turn off his Nannys. He walked away with only a nosebleed. Car required an entire
new Front Clip but was repairable.
Many GT3's have had rear tire blowouts at Daytona Races and HPDE's where the high G
loadings at very high speeds on the steeply banked Daytona Track overstress Rear Tires.
You can see one of those events here:
Fortunately, the incredible crash worthiness of our recent 911's has prevented most
serious crash injuries. I've never found the Nannies of our GT3's overly restrictive on track.
I leave mine on and I advise my students to do the same.

Pretty hard to see how he's not at fault - not that you'd wish that on anyone.
Porsche need to offer three tire choices on purchase
(a). A daily eg 4S N0/1
(b). A crossover eg MPSC2 N1/N2
(c). A true track tire with good solid reliable sidewall for the rears. A real time chaser if you will.

After seeing the Instagram pic of his nannies turned off, I bet he drives like that all the time because he thinks it’s cool. I would wager he’ll leave them on from now on.

Nannies or not this car with these tires are not for the rain, and if you choose to drive in wet conditions there’s always risk. Risk factors are higher regardless of how good you drive. Public roads leave no room for error. Chris is an exceptional driver, and an idiot doing a turn on a two lane highway doesn’t help. Cup tires have little tread to unload the water so have fun dancing in the rain.

Just like I thought, he encountered the truck after a blind corner. Not much he could have done. I'll say this, given his driving experience, I'd trust being in a car with Chris over 90% of drivers out on the road today! Just because he drifts cars on a track/circuit does not mean he does so on public roads...jeez!!
