cold weather blues, no more smokies till spring
I hope it warms up, but i think the mountains are just about over. Went last week and it was in the 30's on the Cherohala parkway. I was hoping to run through december before hanging in the hat. I live just outside charlotte and need to find a few good runs that are not in elevation and not so cold. maybe north GA. I have been googling but cannot find any quality roads in the south. just flat swamp. Any suggestions?

Yes: put some winter rubber on and don't care about the temperature.

My .2 ETA is next week. So below 40 is no drive temp on Cup2s?

I will hit local roads below the mountains but its really cold on top the mountains and just don't need to land in the trees due to cold tires and no self control of my right foot.

I drove my car home to NJ from NH when it was delivered in 32 degree weather. No issues but I wasn't getting on the car either.

Drove my 991.1 home from the dealer with snow flurries. If it's above 40 and no salt on the road I take my car out in the winter. MPS4S

Curious about this as I'm looking at the Rare Shades show this wkd in ATL and then maybe going up to Nashville. Living in south Louisiana below 40 seems really cold on the Cup2s. I also drive in Colorado so winter driving is not the problem. The problem is when the tires feel like hockey pucks.

I wouldn't worry about highway or easy driving, but you don't want to get on it in 40 degree weather, too many variables. I want to go to the rare shades also, Looks sunny in ATL, low 60's

Unless you can do something to get the temps up on the Cup 2s, for example a few laps on the track, I would not want to risk driving around in sub 40 weather on Cup 2s. A few winters ago I was so excited to drive my GT3 because it was sunny out, almost lost the thing on a round about! Thank goodness I’m a track rat, or else it would been really bad! So proceed with caution or get another set of wheels/tires for rain and cold weather use.

Every year at the WERA GNF in Atlanta, it would be freezing in the morning in mid Oct, and guys would go out for practice and scuttle bike after bike.lol 180 degree tires cool down on 35 degree tarmac. I don't take chances with cold tires
