Big Wing vs. Touring

Got the allocation call 11/6/18, but now am conflicted. For me, Big Wing would be a PDK car and Touring would of course be a manual.
Has anyone here owned both? If so what are your experiences.
My current GTS is my first PDK Porsche and it is fantastic, but I enjoy my manual Cayman at least as much.
Input would be much appreciated.

If you're keeping the Cayman, get the winged GT3 in PDK-S for variety. If the GTS, then get a winged manual. You won't be sorry.

I agree with the "GT3=Wing" crowd. There are 20+ other 911 models that don't have them. As far as the manual goes, I only see it for possible resale value but you're going to pay more now for that. The PDK just feels so much more "racier" than the manual. However, should I get my manual shifting speed down below 100 mS I might change my mind. For those who crave the old-school interactive clutch just get a much cheaper 997.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to "transition" from wingless --> wing with the right parts (and $$$)? That seems more feasible than going the other way around.

I will say this- Although I stand behind that a GT3 should have a Wing- The Toruring has grown on me.
I do not consider the Touring a GT3. To me it is a Touring and that is not a bad thing
I want a Touring convertible. And that will not be a GT3. No wing no hard top.

Both look good. Just depends on what type of look you are going for. I’d say if you are just street driving, doing the occasional cannon carving, and making long trips, the Touring would be fine.

Agree 100% with this regarding the Touring and the "Speedster"... + Wings are obnoxious in a crazy good way... Love them!

I've had both (Winged was manual though). I wanted to be a little more under the radar so I traded for a Touring. The Touring is unique in that you are far less likely to run into another one. +1 for the cloth inserts in the buckets as well.
All about which one tickles your fancy... I think the dream is Touring + 3RS for the track.

Don't like mixing street and track cars
Might not track RS still..maybe get another 996 cup

I didn't track my winged PDK GT3, as much as I thought I would or cared to, and as a Daily Driver, it was not working, so I traded it for a TTS for a better Daily Driver and occasional track/autocross, mountain ride car.
In retrospect, if I ordered a Touring I probably would have kept it as it doesn't attract as much attention, better short term value retention until the 992 comes out versus TTS, etc......
Your decision really depends on your personal use of the car...........
All that said I am enjoying the heck out of the TTS, which is a more expensive overall "better for me car" with good standard equipment, i.e. ceramic brakes, LED lights, better radio, etc....

There will be less Touring than Winged GT3s...if you are looking for a rarer variant...
