Funny...I agree with the OP. The .1GT3RS is more fun to drive and more raw than the .2GT3, especially at the limits so to speak.

9000rpm 500hp racing engine manual gearbox NA Porsche you can daily drive and hoon on a track all day and night bone stock. yeah totally underwhelming.
don't worry your RS is pretty too.

Thanks for posting the link to the parts catalogue. So, some release articles and statements from porsche reagrding to the flywheel were incorrect. Now the question is, what produces the smfw-like noise / vibrations in the .1?

Have you owned a 997.1 RS, 997.2 RS, 911 R, or any other previous 911 with a smfw to compare with?

rs is rs. i would also not replace my .1 rs with a .2 gt3, but will do for .2 rs (of course at msrp). op should try .2 rs and see if that change your mind.

I would never take a .1RS over a .2GT3 based on engine alone. I have many other reasons such as I love Manuals and do not find the RS aesthetically pleasing but engine alone I would favor .2

I am being offered a racing yellow .2RS at a 20K ADM but option to purchase it in March 2019 - I guess the owner has to hold on to it for 6 months
just wondering if I should do it

Your selling the GT2RS and keeping the 3RS? Can you elaborate as to why?

3RS is a special car, whether in .1 or .2 version. It has the same NA goodness of a GT3 with more raw sensations transmitted to the driver. I know everyone is fixated on lap times, but in my opinion of tracking them all, the RS is hands down a more entertaining car.

The sound. Motor Trend's last comparison called it "clinical/unemotional". Obviously, a n/a engine will sound better, but the difference is just huge. It also feels bigger on the track, more streetcar. It's stupid fast and is an engineering marvel, but it lacks the visceral feel that the GT3RS exudes.

I am with Jimmy on this. Although owning and driving these cars is a personal and, most importantly, a very subjective thing to say the least, .2 4.0 litter engine is something else and the bargain of the century. Oh yes, I am suvjective, but got objective backup on this.

You ask me, all comes down to perspective and how expensive these damn things are. Comparing the .2 GT3 to 911 R, people say R is better since it is more compliant and soft. Comparing to the RS, people complain that the GT3 is softer. I say GT3 is best of both worlds. Unless you track like Joe or Trackcar, GT3 is King!

just to clarify you are keeping your .1 GT3 RS over a GT2 RS or is it a .2 GT3 RS that you are keeping over a GT2 RS?
