Default Any GT car owners have/getting an M5 Competition yet?

I may have to replace my daily driver at some point and was looking at these. In the last C and D comparo I read the 'regular' new M5 blew the doors off a Panamera turbo and they said wait for the Competition version that would be even better. These cars are plentiful at local dealerships already and advertised online at $5K+ off sticker, a seeming value in the world of P cars.

If it’s anything like past M5 it will depreciate heavily so not sure about being a bargain.

Just picked up a new F90 M5 Competition yesterday. Only drove 10 miles so far. Didn't test drive it before, so just trying to get by for now. In the end, a sedan is a sedan, but not bad for a DD or family car. I hear the new F90 is way better than the old F10 - suspension and DCT are way better for what I read, but no way for me to compare since I never owned BMW before. Haven't spent that much time trying to set up electronics since high school. So far, DCT in seems very fast.
I don't know where you are but if in SoCal let me know if you want to take a look.

Never buy a new M or AMG anything...

wait it out a year or so
get a CPO car
You’ll have about 30-40k more in your checking account

i bought a new x5m 3 years ago....car is worth 50% what I paid for it back then. Never again. Never.

This article said they really liked the handling and thought it was a legit M car again. And fast....the non competition car ran the 1/4 mile like a tenth slower than a Ford GT in their testing.

By the way, I had AMG before, as well as other Porsches, and agree with the depreciation issue. But I'd rather have a good car that takes me around nicely and depreciates before I myself end up depreciated and can't drive anything anymore.

most cars at or above 100k mark, lose a lot of value including M5 , AMG, Panamera etc
had F10 M5 and just drove the F90 as I am about to replace my current DD which is E63 S
the best thing to do with these is to lease them, with that you will know exact cost of ownership, and can transfer if bored with car
side note: residual on M5C are 9 points lower than regular M5 which can make a big difference in lease payment

All four door depreciate now with the proliferation of SUV’s with capable power. I’ve owned all M cars, and this is the first time in 19 years I don’t have a BMW in my garage. The quality has suffered, and all the car lines look the same. The M5 looks this go around is blah not a lot of thought process to make it stand out. Now the engine is superb, but they all fail in the sound category. Now the thing is super fast nothing faster, but how fast you want to go in a 4 door is the question. If I was shopping for a four door I would land with the E 63 AMG, yes they sound bad ***.

The new M5’s are sitting, and this has never happened with a M5 since the it’s enception. It if you like the car it’s a beast just not special anymore in my view. Personally, I want to drive it to see what’s the difference since eliminating the DCT in favor of a true auto trans.

I think this is for the leftover 18's. Great deals around on those. I decided to go all the way with the 19 Comp with ceramics, etc. so I am aware it will cost me, but better on cars than on doctors and medicine, or therapy. I was never really impressed with the Ms, but I believe they are redeeming themselves with Competition being its own line now. We'll see..

Yea the torque converter auto trans was a bit of a surprise but with the torque these engines are putting out a necessity. I am really interested in the new 4 wheel drive system. And it looks like the regular M5 was a bit of a disappointment but the Competition really ups the ante over the MB. I hate the MB electronics and lack of a touch screen, the touch pad works only when you don't want it to but they do have fantastic engines. The depreciation is always an issue but do be expected in normal cars.

I got my m5 competition over the summer and so far so good. I wanted a fast comfortable awd sedan and it checks all the boxes. It seems more powerful than my new gt3rs. Price wise, its reasonable. I got a discount, but my msrp was 121k, the e63s, rs7, s63, panamera turbo, were all more and they will all loose money. The tech is impressive with the hand gestures and for a big sedan, it handles well.

I bought the new f90 m5 and within a month traded it in on an m3. I couldn’t live with out the rawness of the dct!

My wife just bought a 2018 M5. It’s an incredible car for what it is. High performance sedan yet very comfortable. Incredible performance all around cornering and accelation. 0-100 mph simply breathtaking and faster than any car I have ever owned including my current cars : GT3 991.2, M4 with stage 3 tune and C7 Z06.
