Gt3rs vs mclaren Appreciate
Good morning, I was recently pointed in the right direction to a new gt3rs that I had no interest in but I heard these cars are really hard to get, I figured what the heck let me go see what’s all the fuss about, after driving the car I absolutely understand the desire to own one!
here is my problem I recently bought a McLaren 570 S spider I pay 230 grand for it that was three months ago now the market has dropped in the car is only worth 175,000!
Do I bite the bullet now and maybe just maybe the gtr3rs will Appreciate?

the gt3rs will not appreciate. It will likely hold value well. The mclaren will continue to drop at a mich faster rate than the 3RS. Get out, count your losses and enjoy the new RS.

If you want straightine speed and tourqe go McLaren. If you want the best overall driving experience go Porsche
We all know Mclarens resale is dismal compared to Porsche.
If you are thinking of switching do it now before you lose anymore $$$

Given you're already in the loss for the 570s, if you love it, stay in it (its also a WAY better car for the day to day than the RS is)...if you don't love the 570s...then yes, get out now and if you can get into a new RS, go for it as it will definitely hold value...and the motor is definitely more "scintillating" to say the least at high revs (You'll just miss the low end boost torque haha).

when the 992 comes out with hybrid or turbos you don’t think that would make them gain value too purists?

Neither car will appreciate. The RS will depreciate at a slower rate.

Lol no. 570s will drop much more, quite a few lemons/bad construction/unreliable public cases, bottom of the range, 720s are an LT away of going 200 and sub 200. 600LT will put quite a lot of 570 on the market. There is really nothing going for the 570, besides being fast and fun, but they don't have the structure to hold their values. Get a gt3 rs, if you miss the macca, get one after the 600lt starts to land or just pick a 720s.

I would take the 55k hit and run, and once out of warranty it’s expensive. Just looked at 650S spider with 700 miles it’s 205k, and had a 300 plus MSRP, and it’s a much better car than the 570’s. MAC has a long way to go to address their quality woes.

Look at the values of the .1 RS. Not far off of MSRP even for higher mileage examples. You only really got hurt if you paid a big ADM in all the hysteria in '15/'16.
The RS will no question without any doubt hold it's value better.
I didn't buy a Mac and will not buy one despite how much I like them for the reason that regardless of how fast they are their depreciation is always faster. (Except for P1)

Own what will make you happy now and disregard value and future value.....of the Mac brings a smile to your face keep it.....if the Porsche will make you happier make the move....in the end these toys are a big "waste of money" and the only true value of a vehicle is how much you can enjoy it.....

best post in the last few years. None of these cars are investment vehicles.

I agree - get out of the McLaren if you are worried about depreciation. Also agree with comments that RS's depreciation, but at lower rate (I think unless you get a 997 model, which I think will stay pretty steady).
.1 RSs seems like they are pretty good value right now (many can be had well under sticker).
.2s will get there too - no where close to McLaren, though.
If you want, I'd buy and write it off as learning experience with McLaren.
