6MT GT3 or 3RS

If you like the looks of the RS as well as PDK then go for the 3RS. You can always trade for a .2 Manual or opt to trade for a 992 GT3.
I have turned down a 3 RS allocation twice. Reason- will not give up a Manual, do not like the looks of the RS with the Wing that looks like an after thought and the turbo scoops. Also - I do not think you are getting much more for $50,000 more..
In the end- I prefer the looks much more. Maybe tghe widerbody does not appeal to me as much.
It is funny how some here love to try to justify how much better the RS is over the GT3 and to be candid- it is the freakin the same except one you are over paying for bling

The topic may be debated for decades... and if Porsche would offer the Manual in the RS... it would be the unicorn of GT cars (well second to a Manual GT2RS). This whole 'PDK' requirement for the RS is CHEAP, these cars are not REAL RACE CARS.... they are street cars, that people ENJOY DRIVING on Race Tracks (well some do) .
But... since neither of us are running Porsche today... I gave up my .2 6spd GT3 for the new LG RS... because... the RS is the next up the ladder in the food chain! And I enjoy having the most exciting vehicle Porsche makes, that I can afford. If a GT2RS were to come available at MSRP... my GT3RS would become available
Sorry for the rant... I do believe the 992 GT3 will be offered in Manual.. but the RS cars unfortunately may never see that option again... but a Manual trans (to me) isn't worth keeping the 3 over the RS.
Best Regards,
Dave

This is honestly the only reason why *I* want to upgrade my GT3. It's simply a bigger statement vehicle.

I have both right now. To be honest, I'm a little disappointed in the 6 MT. I thought it would be a ton more engaging than I have experienced so far (1500 miles). I guess I just suck at manual shifting. The RS and PDK turn you into a superstar. For me, the PDK is plenty engaging and fun, road or track. Now that I have driven the 6 MT I can see why Andreas and the GT division chose the PDK for the .1 GT3. I totally get the manual shifting and working the clutch thing, but I'll go RS 8/10 IF I could only have one.

If you can't keep both, I think you should go with your initial instinct and take the RS. If you forego the RS, you will always wonder what could have been. Trade in the MT, enjoy the RS and if you find that you like the MT better, do what the others have suggested swap the RS for a 992 GT3 with MT. A great tough problem to have!

I go with those that say for a track car the RS for sure. Otherwise I would keep a manual GT3 for street driving. Having both I can say for sure if I stopped doing track days the RS would go.

Hahhaha you bumped and agreed with your opinion. Voter fraud.
Personally, I couldn’t get a gt3. I wanted a manual. I was offered an rs and took it gladly. The rs works out cause I’ll end up with an open ticket to higher trade value into a higher likelihood of a speedster allocation- gt3 manual purity mixed with rs parts and a 911r’s soul. In the end, the rs will be a beautiful chapter in my ownership history. I think it will be an amazing transient experience. If I were committed for life between an rs and gt3 though I’d want the gt3 manual. But the rs ticks a box and opens doors and will pay out more so on trade.

I'm a diehard manual fan and I would take the RS. I got to drive a manual gt3 and rs back to back at the pec. I started in the gt3, and got out of it questioning whether a pdk rs would be more fun. I got into the rs, and by the first few turns, felt pretty certain the rs was more fun (and I dd a 997.2 gt3 manual). The rs had a sharper turn in and a much more stable platform. It just felt better. I did the same thing in '16 with the .1 gt3 and rs, and felt the same way towards the rs.

I wouldn’t expect anything else from you, Joe. You DO use these puppies on the track. For people who don’t track as much, may be around 4 times a year, the decision can be much harder.
IMO, if you track like Joe does, nothing can replace the RS. If you like the RS look for what it is and like the attention, again RS is RS. I, for one, go to the track occasionally (wish I did more), but also like driving around town without the extra attention, say going for groceries or to home depot (yes, I do that), GT3 is perfect. Part of the reason I went with conservative GT silver for color. The MT in the GT3 is also an extra plus for me. In a few years, when I learn driving about 80% like Joe, I plan to bring home an RS. But it will likely see lots of garage walls and track abuse.
That said, all depends on what you are after: tracking? Looks? Bragging rights? Attention? Etc.

I think it’s a combination of the engine responsiveness and the light clutch... there is something with the throttle mapping and the lack of it slowing the RPM drop between shifts that makes it harder to drive smoothkygfor me just put putting around town.
