991.1 GT3 Future Value

I am speechless.....how does one even figure out how much money they "lose" in 30 days unless they buy it and sell it in 30 days.....let it go, wait til Dec, ask the same question, let it go, wait til Jan, ask the same question, let it go, etc, etc.....lose out on months of enjoyment of owning the car or worse, never own it......
I stated from the very beginning that I realize that this is a crystal ball question but possibly 997 GT3 owners may have some insights if they saw any price movements when the 991 generation launched.
BTW, I was just reading an older thread where you all gave the same “you only live once” type responses to a prospective 991.1 GT3 buyer right before the 991.2 GT3 launched... And then there was an instant 30k loss in value across all 991.1 GT3 years. I don’t care who you are, a 30k loss just because you had to have something right now is a hard pill to swallow.
I work hard for my money just like the rest of you do and didn’t get myself into a financial position to go out and buy toys like this by not being strategic with my cash. The most important part of a purchase like this is ownership experience. Could I go out and buy a new 991.2 GT3? Sure but I refuse to pay ADM and the inflated .2 prices that will be coming down soon would make the ownership experience less enjoyable for myself. I realize there are others that don’t care about those sort of things and that’s completely fine 🙂
Thanks again to the few of you that provided thoughtful responses.

Is it absolutely assured that the GT3 will be in the first year line up for the 992? Has that happen with any of the previous generations at all?
I'd also keep in mind the 991.1 GT3....is super desirable because of the engine warranty. Is it possible it might drop 10k when the 992 comes out? Sure....but I'd be really surprised if it did. I just picked up a .1 for 112k...it was a phenomenal deal and I plan to keep it for 3-4 years of Daily + Track driving. If I can get 60-80k on trade in down the road I'm good with that.

The question was to those that have owned previous generation GT3’s when a new generation 911 launched and if they saw any noteworthy value changes.
Example; 997 GT3 values when the 991 Carrera’s debuted in 2012.
^ My assumption is that there was a little movement on all 997 models when the 991 launched but I just wanted to check and see if anyone could comment from experience.
I’m very excited to be getting my 991.1 GT3. Love my Carrera S and looking forward to the GT car experience.

The 992 GT3 is not expected in the first year.

Do you remember when the 991 GT3 came out.
People were not Happy.....
PDK only
Engines were burning and replacements took months.
Only GT3 with a non race tested motor.
997GT values went up. I was looking at a 2010 for around $100k. It ended up selling for $115k after the 991 launch.
991.2 situation is a little different. Race proven engine that everyone loves. Manual gear box.
992 maybe a turbo car...at least a year maybe 2 before the 992 GT3.
991.2 is the car that will cost the least to drive over the next couple of years. If the 992 is a turbo may sell over MSRP forever. Similar to the 997 RS. (Last of the best).

Ya 991.1S. Its hard to believe these 2 cars share anything in common. Steering is tighter more precise. Brakes feel much much better. And it feels planted at speed. I never liked taking the S to 90+ just didn't feel great to me, on the 3 hour trip back I unitentionally got the GT3 up to 110 while trying to pass a conga line of people........amazing is all I have to say. And then there's the 9k rpm redline.....the car just screams as you get closer and closer to it.

Again... we are less than 30 days away from the next generation 992 launch. It’s not unreasonable to think that the launch of a new generation 911 may have an affect on all current generation 911 model values. This is my only reason for considering waiting and seeing but I’m most likely just going to pull the trigger on the car next week. Just doing my last minute due diligence.

God you are right... asking GT3 guys if previous generation owners noticed any major price movement when a new generation 911 debuted is absolutely insanity... 🙄 I don’t know what I was thinking.
