Kick down of gears or not ?

I noticed my 991.2 3RS has kick down of gears in auto-sport mode when beginning to accelerate hard in a higher gear.

I recall my 991.1 Gt3 did not have kick down in auto-sport mode (theory being that the pdk-sport software is so smart that it always keeps you in the right gear hence no need for kick down).

Has there been a change ?

IIRC my GT3 did that and I know my RS does......both.1

Even my .1 did that but only in regular mode but not sport mode. Or am I imagining this?

My .2 GT3 in sport mode will short shift if you are not accelerating hard, then downshift (kickdown) if you decide to go full throttle. So, yes, the PDK is so smart it keeps the RPMs at optimum. I assume the PDK for the .2 RS is the same

My .1 GT3 did not kick down gears in sports mode and while acceleration , this was all .1 GT3's software tuneup in that way . It only down shifted when you started braking .
I don't know about .2 GT3 , but I am comparing the .1 GT3 to the 2019 GT3RS's PDK . The sports mode on now is exactly what it should've been on the GT3
