Default 2018 991.2 GT3 - alcantara headliner not flush with roof?

My car has 5k miles, not tracked, nothing out of the ordinary. Washed my car a week ago and look at what I noticed, compared with my 991.2 C4. I took my GT3 in to my local dealer where they were able to push the headliner back up "a bit" to where the airbag or exposed material is not as visible anymore, but to get it flush and sealed tight means that they need to rip out the entire headliner and replace it under warranty which seemed intensive, but if the headliner "droops" again I might go that route. They said there aren't clips right there that lock the headliner in place, but have never seen this issue before.

Anyone else experience this? Figured I would ask

Definitely not normal. I’d just get the whole thing replaced under warranty and be done with it. It’s not going to get better over time if you leave it

maybe when they built they didn't push in clips tightly.
and came loose I would assume you don't need replacement just needs to be pushed
to get it to sit correctly.

There are velcro-like attachments along the rear upper window edge as well as a snap that holds it up, and some additional velcro like attachments above the doors between the A and B pillars. It also gets supported by the C and B pillar trims in the area in the photo. I suspect it’s just your C pillar trim that wasn’t snapped in properly and thus wasn’t supporting the headliner. I find it hard to believe that it would need to be replaced...

I had a buddy that lost his satellite radio reception. Dealer told him it leaked and shorted out. The entire headliner has to come out to fix it. Maybe a poor Dealer warrantee repair.

Someone else here had this problem. I remember them posting a picture. Can't seem to find the thread though unfortunately.

Just as an update in case this issue pops up for anyone else, decided that the exposed gap was bothering me (dealer was able to push it in a bit more than the pictures show) so having it taken out and replaced under warranty

Just wanted to update again for posterity sake and in case anyone else runs into this cosmetic issue

New headliner installed under warranty completely fixed the issue

Also, the head tech at my service dealership showed me a new .2 GT3 being delivered with the same exact issue FWIW

i have a similar issue. The dealer said it was normal because they had other new 991.2s with the same issue. Sounds like I might need to go back. Thanks for sharing.
