Default Transition from Turbo S to the GT3

The Turbo S got boring after two years. For ($30K) less than my Turbo S I am 1000% happier and feel real connected. The number one criteria was a manual. Then Lava Orange and Ceramics. I am totally pleased. Received a call in August from my Dealer that I had an allocation at MSRP. PORSCHE of Melbourne is amazing. They know how to service customers. This is a beautiful car for me even though Lava is not that popular. So far the guys have given me a thumbs up. Lava is a color people like but would never buy, lol.

I think the yellow goes great with the orange. I like the light wheels.

Thanks! Havent driven at night in 12 years so I opted out of the LED optional headlights.

This is 10x the fun compared to the 991 Turbo S.

lol,, I bought the Cobb AP from Sam and an exhaust to get more power.

The Turbo S was heavier and PDK that got old.

i loved the power of the Turbo S. Hands down it was a beast. Finness is what I desired.

Too bad the combined turbo s/gt3 variant is PDK and circa $475 - $500K.

A manual GT2 RS would be the uktimate for me at MSRP but thats a pie in the sky wish.

For now I love the GT3 manual.

Yeah, I was just given ya a hard time. I'd love to have both, but for now. I love my 997.2TTS.

Enjoy your new toy. It's awesome!

Congratulations on your GT3! I came very close to purchasing a turbo S a few years ago, but mostly because of PDK, I passed. I am so glad I waited and got my GT3 Touring!

Maybe you can give some insight since you owned a Turbo S.

I've heard that in a straight line, the new 991.2 GT3 is just about as quick? Maybe not the S but the "base" Turbo then?

Or am I totally wrong...

Thanks! I figured if I STUCK with a PDK (on 991s), I may as well get the most bang and the Turbo S was exciting for about a year. Then it completely bored me. Placing the lever into D and pushing the pedal got old. The paddles never moved me. I thought this was my plight in life with Porsches.

Low and Behold, the 991.2 came out with the GT3 T manual and GT3 manual and I was intently focused on getting an allocation.

Finally, I got a call, circa Mid July, that I have a MSRP ALLOCATION for a GT3. I could have pushed for the RS but for even money I wasnt interested. Manual only.

WELL, I was elated and excited but couldnt sleep for 3 months, lol.

Even at age 68 yrs of age I am super excited and when the car leaves me tomorrow for the wrapping I will be anxious for 5-6 days.

Safe Driving.

Unfortunately, the local guys met Andy Preuninger at Rennsport reunion last month. He was insistent on his breakin schedule which I posted on the fridge.

i am limited to 5,000 RPM UNTIL 300 mi.

Then every 130 mi I can increase 500 RPMs.

So, to answer your qu.. sounds GREAT to 5,000 RPMS and feels fast but I ll have to wait until I can take it to 9,000 RPMs at 1300 mi.

One observation: The sound is much louder and pleasing vs the Turbo S , even with the changed exhaust and because of the great sound it feels faster than the Turbo S at the same speed. My wife keeps saying SLOW DOWN,, her ears were giving her false reading on the speed.

One confession... At 130 MPH, I was at 5,200 RPMS, I violated the chart, lol. You can still have fun breaking the car in. The car pulls in 4th 5th and 6th. Nice not having any lag.

And turns on the back roads the Turbo S took at 80 mph was easily bested (95-100) in the GT3.

I pray for the day that It is officially BROKEN IN. Then I will have a story I an sure,

Everyone seeing this Lava Orange in person has been overtaken with emotion. Like...WOW, UNBELIEVABLE, 100x nicer than the Agate Gray former Turbo S. These people are not schmoozimg me,, they are serious.

i am pleased as punch. And blessed I can still drive and enjoy a theee pedal car.

It is like this... I love your color, BUT it is not for me.

Dealer said Lava Orange is approx 1% of the colors ordered.

GOOD and BAD news.

Unique... yes

Who is going to ever buy it? lol

Out of circa 2800 GT3s could only 28 be Lava Orange? No Clue.
