I got $197,500 for my Lava (list was $209k) and was thrilled. Paid ~ $18k over in the heat of the “RS” madness in ‘beginning of ‘16 and thought I did good. Then PAG decided to build more (more than double more) in spring after it was supposed to be a 1500 WW build when they saw the madness. They did what was best for them not me.

Got burned. Felt stupid and confirmed stupid as far as wife was concerned. Now I do what’s best for me. Spend with my brain more and my emotions less.

Now i I don’t care what car it is. Have no interest if I have pay adm. 0.

ADM for me now stand for “Additional Dummy Markup”.

You got burned? I disagree. You had false expectations that a 200K+ car was going to be free to drive....they aren't in most cases. You could have easily went into Mercedes and bought a SL65 for 210K at MSRP and sold it a year later for 140K and lost more, or a Mclaren, or a lambo all at msrp.. Yes i love and want these things to cost next to nothing to own but in reality they arent free, and nobody promised you it was going to be free, if they did and you believed it thats on you. At least this is the way i see it. In some cases with these cars and the right timing you can minimize things, but not always, and especially not if youre going to drive them. Also, back to timing, one day these could all be new gen hybrids and turbos, and in 2025 your 2016 RS could be worth 275K, so youre only "getting burned" now cause you decided to sell now and get in the lastest and greatest. Youll feel burned again if its worth more down the road, but theres a price to get what you want when you want it. Im not saying i agree with ADM, cause i dont. But it was your choice,

I agree with satco statement.
no one likes to pay adm.
but sometimes it happens.
as for value of trade on rs
170/180
it all depends what dealer wants to make
in markup when selling ...plus dealers don't want to sit on them .

+1. GT production today is always going to be higher than with the 996/997 GT cars. Can't count on small production numbers - not going to happen.

I paid about 18k over for a 458. Had the car 4 years. Never regretted it. Oh and lost 70K. I traded my ‘16 RS in for 10k in back of MSRP. A bargain. 18k is not a big deal when playing with cars of this altitude. Quit listening to your wife and enjoy your cars.

I paid $18K ADM on a year old RS but drove my '15GT3 for free for 2.5 years.....looking at the big picture even if I sold now for $190K or so I still did just fine.....and driving the car with no worries about the future value is the way to go....it's a toy not an investment

Thanks all. I know these posts are tedious, but can't think of of a better place to ask.
Sounds like a really nice car. I've found as much as a 10-15k difference in what is being offered by dealerships that may be as little as 10 miles away from each other on this type of car. It's great to have the opportunity to buy these cars at msrp (especially PTS- which was fairly rare for .1RS) but at the same time, when selling, you are a bit hamstrung on what the dealer offers you and can't really "shop around" as this may affect your relationship with the dealer. I think 180ish sounds about right as the dealer should hope to make another 8-10% on the car.

Keep in mind that whatever the trade in offer is you need to add the tax credit you'll get from the trade in (assuming it works like that in your state) so your end value may be a bit higher than what you would have thought. If they offer you crazy low, let us know your expectations dn someone here may want to buy it from you but you won't get any tax credit.

Actual market retail on 2016RS seems to be ~$2 off msrp per mile accrued if CPO.

Example, if you have ~9k miles and they can CPO the car then full market retail would be around ~$190k.

id think 180 trade in an optimistic figure unless you’re paying a big ADM.

Is trading the .1 in part of the deal for getting the .2 at sticker?

If not why trade it in at all?
Low milage .1 non PTS cars are selling around msrp so I'm guessing a PTS .1 with 5k miles should also fetch around msrp on a private sale.

The only tough part about that is the unusual combo of voodoo exterior/lava interior, which is an acquired taste to say the least.
