they are called fog lights in the parts catalogs, that’s why I called them that. It is not my “American fascination with fog lights”

I also have a 1986 944 Turbo which has fog lights you can turn on separately from the headlights.

Sorry, I wasn't insinuating you were fascinated with them. It's just a pet peeve of mine.

The owners manual refers to them as "parking lights." They're actually not very bright and wouldn't work as fog lights.

I have 2 BMW's, and you can turn on the fog lights separately on those as well. On my Tacoma, they only come on with the headlights, which makes no sense to me...

It was weird because I actually didn’t know what to call them, then I found them on suncoastparts called fog lights. Parking lights makes sense as they definitely don’t project any light.
