If you can swing it, pick up a .2 in as close to your preferred spec. The .1 is a solid GT3 though and if you aren’t seeking the latest and greatest then it will suit all your stated needs.

i have an r8 v10 plus and i actually think it's a bit more car than a .2 GT3 (which I also have). just easier and more pleasant to drive everywhere. on track, it is highly capable. you just need to change the tires to Sportcup 2 or Trofeos and get better brake fluid. i am just saying it might be a good alternative and of good value that you won't go wrong with. steering is on the light side but it has individual mode wherein you can adjust all the electronics to suit you for DD and a Performance mode for all out power

For street driving, it truly is a small difference if you drive a 991.1 GT3 up to a 991.2 GT3 RS.

For track driving, find what type of track driver you're: beginner, intermediate, advance, competitive time trials, hill climbs?

For most GT3 drivers, the performance their cars put on paper/factory tests/magazine tests do not match what they can do with their cars.

If I were in the market for a GT car, and I wanted the most value for my money, I would go 991.1 GT3 with LWB seats and steel brakes on a color that I like.
This. But there’s also the question of the engine sound. I’m surprised how few people talk about the sound differences. The .2 engine
has definitely got the lower end torque and pulls better, but the .1 has a more intoxicating high pitched sound. It’s the sound that I fell in love with on my first drive in a GT3 and the .1 just has the perfect sound. The .2 sounds very good as well but it’s a noticeably less thrilling sound than the .1.

Interesting you mention this, Matt @ Obsessed Garage seemed to agree in some of his Smokies GT video reviews where he mentioned the .2 and .2 3RS engine sounding a bit more refined (FWIW) if I remember correctly. Cool feature of the .1 if true, even as a .2 owner. If the noise is higher pitched on the .1 bring it on, love that sound. Doesn't the .1 have a SMFW as well?

That is one of the main reasons I bot my car, the engine sound in the high ranges in the .1 is unreal! I must have watched this one video 20 times where the guy is on the autobahn ,cannot remember his name right now, but he is well known. He picked up the car straight from the factory and goes thru all the gears to 9k and is totally astonished at the power ,speed and sound. I would drive both cars but with the current delta in price difference ,its hard to justify the cost of the .2, I guess it boils down to if you want the latest, because there is no question its the better car of the two.

I would describe the sound like this
< 3000 rpm: .1 nice, .2 nice
3-5k rpm: .1 yeah yeah lets go, .2 yeah yeah lets go
5-7k rpm: .1 the saw beginns, very nice sound, bit of drama; .2 less saw, more metallic, not so nice but a bit louder
7-8k rpm: .1 intoxicating, overwhelming, more more more; .2 metallic, drama
8-9k rpm: .1 metallic, drama drama explosion rebell yell; .2 metallic, a bit stressed

I haven't driven my car in 2 weeks. God I can't wait to hear those final 500 rpms and the PDK bang into the next gear again
