Default How to put clear side markers in????

OK so my best and go to tool is a hammer. Before I try to tackle this myself and wind up taking the whole front facia off is there any video or instructions anyone can provide on how to get this done with the least amount of fuss?

Slide them towards the wheel well, then push the wheel well end in towards the frunk to tip the pointy end up and out. Takes 10 seconds per side.

Funny, I just did this today. Besides Mech33's suggestions, here's what I'd add:
  • Put some painters tape above and below the existing lights before removing to avoid accidentally scratching the car
  • Push down about an inch away from the end furthest from the wheel well when you are pulling them towards the wheel well
  • Be prepared to use a small flat screwdriver to separate the connector from the car to the light
It can be a bit of a nuisance if the connectors don't come off easily as the wiring sometimes is short and won't move the light far from the car. Still, once they are done they look fab!

Use fishing line around the front “pointy” end. Slide the light towards the wheelwell. It moves a couple of millimeters. Then with the fishing line looped around the tip, pull towards you and the light will pop out from the front. Then just slide towards the wheelwell and the whole light pops out. No risk of scratching. Mine were very tight , but the fishing line did the trick.

Hope this helps!

'18 GT3 or '19 GT3 RS? I have done them both and they are different.

I am guessing 19 RS please. Have to do mine also and Waxer and I have similar cars. I have done other 991s but heard the 19 RS is different.

I found that sticking some duct tape on the original side marker and then using extra tape material to pull / slide the marker towards the wheel worked great.

Hope this helps.

On every Porsche I’ve owned, you just slide it back, push and it pops out. Disconnect and reverse with the clear one. Literally a five minute job. No need to tape anything.

On my GT3, the original markers were super tight and would not move with just finger pressure, hence the use of tape to have better pulling leverage. Some youtube videos show the use of screwdrivers, that's an accident waiting to happen IMO.

I heard that the '19 RS has a different clear side marker than the across the range 991 standard ones I've bought for my cars from Suncoast as a heads up (if you didn't already know), also I had to use a metal credit card to pop out the side markers on my GT3 as they wouldn't budge. Put a t shirt over the card to protect the paint and it worked well. The side markers on my C4 just slid out like others had mentioned pushing towards the wheel

Carmen,
The '19 RS markers are removed by pulling the rear of the light frame toward you. It takes a fare amount of force to disengage the metal clip. They DO NOT slide out. Once out simply switch the wire, line up the three plastic clips and then force the metal clip in position; again requires extra force.
