Im sure you won’t be disappointed! More and more bypasses heading out, many to RL members so I’m sure there will be many reviews on the way

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! Very interesting as you have great experience of many different exhaust combinations

Yes, two options you could say. The AWE system is sold as a complete unit, sides centre and tips.

Our comparable version would be our Titanium valved side silencer deletes combined with our Titanium non silenced centre bypass. It’s your choice if you then run OEM tips or our own Titanium bolt-on tips.

Another option would be to run again our Titanium valved side silencer deletes but this time with our Titanium silenced centre bypass. This means that unlike the AWE system when valves are closed the exhaust gasses pass through silencers, further reducing the exhaust volume beyond that of just simply the smaller exhaust diameter.

Obviously complete preference is yours however the reason we have structured our exhaust offerings in a modular way is for this exact reason. To give owners the choice of creating the best tailor made exhaust system for their own tastes.

Sure I am mistaking something, but doesn't the side muffler bypass delete the side mufflers? If so, what would be the function of the valves?

Retaining the valves mean that you keep the PSE function for those who wish to keep noise down during cruising

I would like it louder, so I assume option 1. Let me know what that would run. Thanks

JCR, where are you located in the UK (couldn't find location info on your website)?I will be visiting family in London in a couple weeks and would like to swing by and see your products in the flesh. Would be nice to hear a demo too. My RS is due in February.

I always thougth that with the valves exhaust gases went through the side mufflers then the center, with it open they bypassed the side mufflers to the center. With the side mufflers replaced I don't see what the valves are directing the gases too? Unless they only work with the silenced centers and gases go through silencers as well when off.

But how would the valves keep the noise down if there is no side muffler?

Yea, that was exactly what I was wondering too, with the side mufflers deleted, what are the valves redirecting the air flow to, to keep the noise down?

I found the workings of the standard exhaust/muffler system to be a bit of a challenge to understand, too, but picking up information from various posts made here and elsewhere (many thanks for that) and adding a bit of my own detective work, I wrote up a summary of how the GT3 exhaust system (including the valves) works. I'll try to attach it, if I can... The images are taken from a 997GT3 but I understand that the 991 is identical in concept - although the control strategy for the valves (when, and under what circumstances, they are opened or closed) is different between the two generations of vehicle.

Knowing how the stock system works is a good basis for understanding how different aftermarket configurations will work.

Happy to be picked-up on any of this if I've got it wrong!

James

OEM SETUP:
To summarize the JC deep dive
there are virtually 3 OEM silencers (aka mufflers)
1 central (eventhough 1 left 1 right receiving the gasses we can consider as 1 central silencer)
and of course we have 1 left side and 1 right side aka side mufflers and we have 1 left side valve
plus 1 right side valve,
the vzlves are in between the central OEM silencer(s) and the two side OEM silencers

OEM SETUP:

Left Silencer.................................Right Silencer
I....................................................................... .... I
I....................................................................... .... I
Valve_closepath>_...................___________Valve
...........,,...........,.......I..................I..........................I
...............................I..................I..< openpath >..I
...............................I..................I........................I
...........................CentralSilencers......................I
...............................I..................I..........................I
..................................Tailpipes________________I
.....................................I.....I

Common Config 1
you keep a central silencer
whether keeping the CENTRAL OEM muffler or buy 3rd party central silencer (i.e. JCR provide a less restrictive center silencer(s) , correct me if wrong)

the above combined with
a 3rd party Valved SIDE silencers DELETE

when valves are closed the central oem or 3rd party silencer(s) get all gasses reducing the noise according to its capability and until valves will open at 4500

with valves opened you have from the catalysers a straight pipe until your tail pipes

virtually no drone from what reported by RLers
and you keep some back pressure while beiing under 4500rpm that looks like useful to keep lo mid rpm torque

Common Config 1

NOLeft Silencer.....................NO Right Silencer
I....................................................................... .... I

...............................I..................I..........................I
............................CentralSilencers.....................I
...................................I...........I.............................I
...............................Tailpipes__________________I
......................................I.....I

Common config 2
you keep OEM SIDE silencers in place
and buy a 3rd party center silencer delete

here you have multiple combinations according to the 3rd party i.e. JCR or Akra lighter TI central delete or Fabspeed GMC stainless etc.

indeed only side OEM silencers are at work all time but no central silencer at all
where valves have from my understanding no more meaning because the central muffler is just a 2 straight pipes especially at low rpm when gasses pressure is lower

Common config 2

L Silencer............................................R Silencer
I....................................................................... .... I

Common config 3

sometime called race setup
indeed an high Db setup

I just installed this system and posted the video review yesterday so you can hear it for yourself.

I am am very happy with the results.

That helps immensely. Getting a valved side muffler bypass only makes sense with the stock center or a silenced enter.

How much weight does your Titanium Race pipe save in weight over OEM..Am i correct in assuming that it also includes Titanium tips and offers the most power/torque increase..Any disadvantages and how antisocial will the noise be under 4k revs.Anybody fitted it to a 991.2GT3 yet and will it be possible to hear a video for it..
I live on a farm so i don't have to worry about waking neighbours up.Will it be available with your RL discount.?
Many thanks for your continued patience with my endless stupid questions but i want to pick the best one for me from the outset..

PM coming your way shortly, also later today we're launching an intro offer so this will be best to jump on for pricing

We're in the Warwickshire area, please let me know when you're in town and I would be happy to show you the products in the flesh. As with all of our products, pictures and video only tell part of the story so being able to hold / listen / experience in person really is a big plus.

This is exactly why we produced our silenced centre, the terminology is maybe a little confusing at times but its a product which once combined with valved side deletes I feel offers really the best of both worlds.

Our titanium race pipe is our lightest and most extreme exhaust set up. No valves, no silencers, completely straight pipe from the headers / manifolds to the tips. We're in the final stages of development for this product and we're toying between the idea of integral tips or again making this product compatible with OEM tips (and therefore all aftermarket OEM style tips too)

The exhaust is LOUD and the tone is glorious but not for the faint of heart. Especially when combined with our catless inconel race manifolds.

As for choosing the correct exhaust for you, its never easy. I guess you need to know if you would like to be able to quieten things down a little for more 'sensible' driving or if you're just looking for an out and out extreme sound and maximum performance and weight saving.

For the RL discount, depending on the success of this first centre bypass / side bypass / tips offer I will consider then doing something similar for each new product release

I’m really close to pulling the trigger, but can’t make up my mind between a straight center bypass and the bypass with silencers. i have some reading to do. My plan was to do the center bypass and retain oem sides to get more sound and tone but be able to go to quiet mode for neighbors and phone calls. Is this the correct setup? Can I do this with the non silenced center bypass?

can anyone comment on how this compares to Akra? Both titanium, akra the “name brand” is considerably higher priced.
