switching bucket seats for regular seats in 991 GT3
hi - can someone tell me if it's possible to switch out the bucket seats for 18 way sports seats in the 991.2 GT3? and if so at a high level how does one go about it?
Many thanks,
Tony

Tony: you have to buy the 18-ways, and the wiring, and possibly the module that controls the seat if the PIWIS cannot program the installed module for the 18-ways. In the .1 they were different modules, I don’t know about the .2. Then you install the new parts. This was discovered by actually putting 18-ways into a car specced with 4-ways and then plugging in to PIWIS in 2016.
The system is designed such that you can easily plug the 4-way seats into a car that came with 18-ways, but if you tried to go the other way only 12 of the 18-way controls would work until you changed the wiring and modules. The jury was out on how much would work in a car that had come with buckets if you installed the 18-ways, but the wiring would definitely need to be replaced the last time I checked, again in 2016.
I do do not believe things have improved in the .2 since my attempt to spec a car with two sets of seats at build was rejected specifically due to the issue of module and wiring conflict. I don’t doubt there are other reasons.

I sourced some sofas, and had the dealer do the swap recently. NO issues at all.....other than the large dealer bill

Where did you source them? I have been completely rebuffed by PAg when asking for the next car to be provided with both sets of seats. My search for 18-ways in 2016 only led me to the dealer and the price was beyond silly. I’d be very interested to have a set of sofas for possible touring use at a reasonable price even if I need to have the contrasting stitching matched.

I have 18 way in my GT3 with red stitching and none of you can have them. They are not leaving my butt

Fabricate 18 Way Sport seat wiring harness, heated seat wiring loom and install in car
Install heated seat console switches, connect to wiring loom
Install/bolt 18 way seat into car, connect to wiring loom
In PIWIS, code new seats, seat heating and wiring functions
PS the prior post about going the other way is an easier task, you are simply removing things there, here you are adding new
