Ouch, bummer but hey at least I was happy to see the car being used as intended and sometimes things happen out of our control. Happy to hear you are ok and hopefully the 3RS will pick up right where it left off in no time
Of course this is a risk you take on track but that seemed like a totally unecessary incident you only see in low level amateur races. Did you get any kind of explanation from him? I guess brake fade is a real possibility just after the chicane if he was running very thin pads.
Set off on a 4500km road trip last Friday with the aim of doing 3 track days in one week - Monza, Mugello and Dijon. We kicked off with Monza on Monday and in only the 3rd session of the day, a young guy in a 991.1 GT3 crashed into my new 991.2 GT3 RS at the Curva Grande chicane.
I had passed the offending GT3 at Ascari on the other side of the track so by the time we got to Curva Grande he was a couple of himdred metres back. You can see in the video that I passed a Corvette at around 350metres out from the chicane. The driver of the Corvette, who had a birds eye view of the accident, said the GT3 came sailing passed him at a million miles an hour, completely missed his braking point, hit the brakes way too late, spun out of control and skidded into the side of the car. The hit took me completely by suprose because I was already passed the apex of the corner and one would not normally expect to be hit at that point.
I hopped out of the car expecting to see lots of bits hanging off...but sometimes you can be lucky. He hit me fair and square on the left rear wheel so there was zero body damage. But fearful of suspension damage, we managed to get the car trucked late in the day to Porsche Milano who inspected the car and said the only things needed was a suspension realignment, a new rear wheel and two new rear tyres Absolutely remarkable after that hit.
His car car was a mess with at least 20K damage.

Believe it or not, the excact same thing happened to me.
car hit me hard on the inside rear tire, I spun but very little damage while the car that hit me had a lot of damage!
The driver of the black GT3 was devastated. Truly sorry for his mistake. He was so focussed on trying to get pass the Corvette before the chicane that he totally missed his braking point.
Porsche Milano did an outstanding job turning the car around in 24hrs with new tyres and a re-alignment. Allowed us to make a quick dash from Milano to our next track day at Mugello. Arrived late in the day just in time for the last two sessions to give the car a good thrashing to see if anything else broke or needed fixing. Car ran superbly.
We then overnighted in Mugello (at the surprisingly nice Monsignor Della Casa Country Resort) before heading for another track day at Dijon-Prenois. Along the way, we overnight in Chamonix (at the very lush Hotel Mont Blanc) then navigated our way to Dijon-Prenois via the Col des Aravis (a very nice road).
A big shout out for Porsche Assist who arranged tow trucks, taxis, rentals cars, etc. Without their help I would probably have just trucked the car home. But we got the car fixed and managed to continue with our road trip with less than 2 days lost.
