Default .2 MT Rev Limiter?

Does the .2 manual have a rev limiter? Not talking about a money shift, where you down shift into too low of a gear and spike the tach. But let's say you're accelerating in some gear, like 3rd or something, and hit redline. What happens if you just don't downshift in time? Does the car cut fuel or cut the throttle automatically? Or can you actually keep the tach climbing until the engine goes nuclear?

Yes it has a rev limiter

Watch me bounce off the limiter in 4th gear going down the main straight

^Yeh but when you hit redline does it cut off fuel to protect engine on up shift?

Yes, it uses spark and fuel to limit revs. That's why you see the bounce off redline in Joe's vid. Otherwise, it would go above 9k.

It protects the engine from over-revs in all cases, except mechanical over-rev from downshifting into too low a gear for the given speed.

Nice! Don't do what I did. Short shift to 5th and you gain a few more mph.

Thanks, man. It was some sloppy driving, lol! That was my 2nd lap in the car after driving a spec miata for 4 months. I was going in too hot for a lot of the corners for some reason. Lol!

Nice driving, pretty funny -good natured frustration at the end. Way to dispel the red mist.

With the spec Miatas you have to go in hot otherwise you got nothing at the other end. Can't wait for my GT3.2 to come in - will probably do the same thing!

I don't know of any car that has been made without a rev limiter in a very long time. Can't imagine there are any considering they all use computer engine control.

Lol, thanks! Inevitable with how fast these cars are. That is one reason why I went racing
