We know who the criminal is in this situation, and I won't blame the victims, but I agree that it makes no sense to put down that kind of deposit. A deposit is only meant to show that you're serious about buying the car, not a large down payment. Zero chance that I'd put down a deposit more than $2K on any car (didn't make any deposit on our GT cars). In this case, looks like the buyers let their desire to get the cars interfere with their better judgment.

My thought exactly. But, as a later poster notes, greed is NOT good for most people other than Gordon Gekko.

That said, the lawsuit states that his wages were recently garnished by American Express. I wonder how recently as that would certainly be cause for alarm if you are the employer. If very recent, then that might have been what caused the operation to unwind (i.e. if Champion started looking into it) and give him cause to flee.

Champion needs to file the suit as a means to protect itself against litigation by becoming a plaintiff instead of co-defendant. Still going to be a tough road for Champion because an audit will be extensive. Still don't see any fallout for PCNA or PAG, nor any liability. Dealers have defaulted on customers over many decades and many marques.

I think customers were told these were actual deposits for the cars, not allocation, as the cars were being built already.

I would like to take the opportunity to break my silence, had it not been OP's post, I would still in be in the dark. Yes, I am unfortunately a victim is this scheme/fraud, and planning to talk to their attorney later
today to see how to remedy the situation. Feeling Mad/upset is just an understatement, I feel disgusted/cheated as a posche/gt3 enthusiast. My situation is a bit different, as some stated that the commission
number does not match the actual name. Confirmed with Porsche NA and even the dealership that my commission and my name do match, however when the dealership shared the " build sheet " with me, it is a
completely different build. The car has a bunch of CXX options and already in V250 status. Is there some light at the end of the tunnel? Thanks for all the support.

Thanks for the clarification. Even then, I've never paid for a car until it arrived at the dealer and I took delivery.

Since the fraud was conducted by an employee of the dealer under the dealer's roof, I don't see how the dealer isn't financially responsible, regardless of how the paperwork is set up.

There will be a lawsuit by those defrauded against the dealer most likely. They should get representation ASAP. Maybe better one law firm represents them all as a group.
