you make a great point. I’ve learned customers did make deposits to Champion Autosports and later paid for car to Champions father business Copans Motors Inc.They actually received their car. So in thinking of that, the dealer was selling GT cars at MSRP or below if they supposedly knew nothing about the shell company.

Yeah I don't draw that same conclusion. I doubt seriously they had any clue about the shell company. But one thing they do know is the market for GT cars. No way were they selling at MSRP or below.

So the deposit went to a scam account but the payment went directly to a real Champion connected account? If that's the case, either Champion knew that this guy was running sales through his separate company or they should have know when they received money for the deposits from the scam company. Either way. Toast.

If Champion isn't writing check today, I'll never set foot in that place again.

Fewer cars (911r) but same process?
Champion didn’t fire him?
Champion didn’t increase supervision?
And this is from 2/22/2018 !!!!

Yet they continued to employ him!!

Doesn't sound good for them either way.

Edit, just realized Champion Porsche is a defendant in that case.

They probably had to file a police report and lawsuit to get any insurance assistance in case they can't get any money back from the salesman. They probably will make things right with people who can prove they made deposits. He must of had at least one accomplice at the dealership.

Insurance doesn't cover fraud.

Traditional insurance, no. But, there are plenty of business fraud policies, which cover employee fraud.

I flipped an email to Jalopnik, so I wouldn't be suprised if they post something about it later today or tomorrow. Figured someone should spread the word.
