My 3RS has the Dunlop’s not the Cup 2s. Should I ask them to switch tires to the Cup

I have Dunlops on my .2 3 RS and ran two open track days at Sebring last week; hot 29 front and 30 rear. They are great tires. I had only run Cup 2's on my '14 & '18 GT3's.

Had my .2 out on track for the first time this weekend. I wasn’t impressed with the Dunlop’s (but boy this car is amazing). Back to the Dunlop’s, they felt like they had less grip that Nitto NT01s when comparing to the feel I had on my cayman. I always loved the original Cups on my cayman but they didn’t have the right size so I always drive nittos.
Tye comments sre right, burn thru your Dunlop’s, get cups2 see what you like better and keep buying those. I’d imagine the difference is only ~1 sec anyways.
People complained to me before the weekend the dunlops had lots of understeer but I didn’t experience e that with -2.5f/-2r. The car was well balanced with manageable oversteer.

Waxer, one thing I noticed about the Dunlops on the street is that they come up to temps and hold the temps better than the Cup 2's. This means that you can get in the car, go hit the twisties and the car feels like a go cart. The Cup 2's take longer to get up to temps, and keeping heat in them on the street is more challenging. These same properties make the Cup 2's better on the track. The Dunlop's are going to go off quicker on track, but on the street I think they are perfect. But mileage wise I got 12k out of my Dunlops vs 15k from the Cup 2's, with mostly street driving. The Dunlops were gone at 12k, where the Cup 2's still had rubber, but the performance was compromised, at 15k.
The Dunlops are just a softer, stickier tire. So they heat up easier, and last shorter.
In the rain both tires are dicey if there is standing water, but the Dunlops felt better. So...if you are tracking the car a lot go with Cup 2's - on the next tire change. If you are doing mostly street driving and have an abundance of twisties (i.e. Colorado) then the Dunlops might be a better option for you. Keep the Dunlops on, get to know them and the car, and then switch to the Cup 2's and see what you think. I read a lot about the Dunlops being the inferior tire, but I must say for the street I like them better. They just don't last as long.

I heard that your Dunlops are a Matched set and staggered special, you are encouraged to go to the outside of turn 4 and the .2 RS will stick.

My GT3 came with the Dunlop's and now I have the new N1 Cup 2. I honestly liked the Dunlops better, more overall grip. The only downside they did not last as long. Go do a couple track days on them and then switch them out.

You must be thinking of Ferrari. I think they lose $1000 for every rain drop that touches them. Plus, the club takes away your fancy red jacket and shoes if you get the car wet.

How are you guys driving in the rain? I drove in the rain in 40 degree weather and as long as I didn't floor the throttle I didn't have issues. Drove home in the rain Sunday from a track day with no issues.

Agree with most that Dunlops are much better in the rain. With Cup 2s you need to be very careful when the rain comes and temperature is below 50 degrees.........At Birmingham Porsche Experience this year, three drivers stated that they likes the Dunlops better because of better grip in the wet with the Dunlops......they didn't say much about durability as they go through tires fast there.....they basically said negligible......
