That is what I did. Armed guy snatched my gf’s purse, fled on foot, I got in my jag with my FAL while gf called the cops. I was maybe 3 minutes behind him, had a good description and the direction he was heading. Cops got to him first (unfortunately) and had a shootout with him (cops missed as they always do). Had I gone right instead of left at the end of the street following where he went he would have had a mag of 7.62 in him, a ride in the truck of the jag, and an appointment with the incinerator. When the Russians (not ex-Black ops, sorry) showed up to help with the search they were disappointed as the cops had him in custody and were not receptive to my suggestion that they drop him off to me.

And that was for a purse with no money in it ....for a 2RS I would go all out.

Much simpler option is to put a GPS tracker on your car or Lojack. When they jacked my neighbor's Merc about 10 years ago, he saw them driving away, activated Lojack and they dumped the car about 2 miles away and got in their chase car. He had the car back in under 30 minutes. He figures they could tell the car was emitting a signal.
In Europe thieves use GPS jammers. If they want your car, they'll take it.

Lol. I can actually provide alibi for the mythical Mooty on this, and all he was doing was sitting on a couch in MO drinking bottled water when this probably went down. I was expecting more mythical behavior, frankly.

Kobalt: I am so sorry this happened to you—but like others am glad you and yours are safe above all else...the rest is replaceable one way or another. I am, however, amazed by theft of these cars...I can see some aspect of taking one far away and trying to "hide" it, but what happens the first time the oil level needs to be reset, or? And there are a lot of ors with these cars...

One time we were vacationing near Florence and we rented a car to drive into the city. That was a mistake. I swear we did 5 or 6 loops trying to get out of that city. After the 3rd time the wife and i were looking at each other thinking....we literally can’t get out of this city. Almost ran out of gas too.

Never had that experience anywhere else. I think i was Mooty’d.

I can’t believe these jerks have the ***** to drive this car on public streets. Actually good news tells me there as dumb as wood sleds. I guess they figure they’ll be inconspicuous and nobody will notice them. I don’t think they could be more conspicuous if they ran naked through the center of town while on fire.

actually if they’re caught I think that might be a fitting punishment

I didn't read the 10 pages... but in the US, we have Porsche Connect, and can always see where our cars are, do you not have this in Europe? Can't Porsche locate the car via GPS?

Best Regards,
Dave

What car is able to catch up to that beast??? They're invincible! Smokie and the 2RS!!

Too bad wasn't a manual GT3, would still be in the garage.

Who made the sighting anyway??!

They're in Sweden. If they get caught, jail is like a 5 star resort. Better accommodations than they probably live now. They'll be rehabilitated and turn into alter boys.

Which is why you layer your security and don’t rely on just one thing to keep your property safe. And have good insurance.

I think a lot of people get caught up in the high tech and forget some of the low tech things you can do. Flat slides, dogs, safes, and, of course, firearms. And make sure the car is parked in way where it can’t be quickly towed out.

Just pulling the fuse for the fuel pump would stop any thief doing a quick grab. I do this when we go on vacation, plus hide the keys.

The Porsche Connect Tracker is jammed.

Removing fuse is a good idea. Sometimes they need to actually drive the car somewhere to store it or to load it on a truck. If they load it immediately the fuse might not help.

I googled "Flat slides" and all I found was sandals...

What is "Flat slides"?
