Not necessarily, Porsche will adjust the price of the GT3RS accordingly. The current GT3 has a base price of $143K while the RS is at $187K. If the GT3 were eliminated and the RS base price were adjusted to around $165-170K I think Porsche wouldn't lose that many sales (especially if they marketed it as including many options as standard in the RS). if you doubt it, look at what happened with the turbo and turbo S. Porsche buyers are increasingly buying the higher priced turbo S over the standard turbo (with the promise of higher HP & torque and more standard options). The same could work with GT3 vs. GT3RS. My .1 GT3 stickered at $172K...I can tell you that I would buy an RS for $190K ($170K base + $20K in options) in a heartbeat.

No way Porsche decreases the price of the RS or Gt3. This is the model that sells out before it’s even announced.

Getting to be a tad frustrating. One of the main draws to Porsche (for me at least) is the high reliability relative to other performance options. But it kind of doesn't matter given that Porsche has shows an amazing degree of loyalty to the customers in terms of making good on these issues.

Sounds like it’s an oil pump issue. Supplier issue.

The .1 failures were defective finger followers as I recall . Supplier issue.

PAG should recall for pump if it’s the problem.

However, problem seems statistically minimal but not a consolation if it’s your car.

If it is an oil pump issue I would expect a recall shortly. Otherwise it could be something much more serious. Time will tell.

I think it is too early to say if this is round two of the GT engine debacle. Way too early. But...these reports are concerning, especially given that one of the signature changes in the .2 engine was the oiling. We'll see.

My thoughts exactly. Before we go all chicken little, we need a few more data points.

I don't know why people are freaking out. The .1s had legitimate issues and had massive recalls. This car has been out for about 2 years now - no where near as bad as .1

With you.

This Engine is great.

People need to keep in mind you pump out approx 5000 race engines and some are bound to be replaced.

Same engine in .2 RS so increase the pool is even more

I guess 150-210k dollars is meaningless to a few of you. However, I personally expect perfection in a car that’s 175k especially the drivetrain.

Cool, pay more and enjoy "perfection" with ferrari, aston martin, AMG GTs, lambos, mclarens. Make sure to enjoy the seat when the car doesn't start.

Perfection doesn’t exist at any price point, and I would suggest the more you spend the more risk due to all the systems and tolerance taken to the limits. Safer to buy a Honda it will run forever ...........
