Default GT3 Touring vs 458 Speciale?

Hi guys,

I have a touring incoming but always yearned 458 speciale.

Touring has msrp of 180k and 458sp go around 400k.

What would you guys pick? and why?

If you have money for a Speciale then buy an R instead of a Touring ... those were the two cars on my list and I chose the latter.

But if you're happy with a Touring just buy it and pocket the $200k.

Or just spend the coin on your dream car.

Not sure how any of us can guide you.

There's diminishing returns for me, and just because I can afford something doesn't mean I think it's worth it. 400k for a used car I could barely drive without the value plummeting vs a brand new car that I could drive the heck out of.. Easy choice for me.

When the 991.1 GT3 came out, the comparison videos pitted the GT3 vs the Speciale. Probably just timing, but the GT3 was just as good in the corners with the V8 Speciale pulling on the straights. The Speciale is like a GT3 with a V8, super chassis, wonderful sound and the styling is top notch.

I'd certainly love to spend some time behind the wheel of one.

From 911, I'm pretty happy with Touring. Maybe waiting 2.5 years for it just worn me out even before taking delivery of it.

I agree strongly. F-cars' value are heavily dependent on mileage and spending 400k for car that I will be worried to drive every moment may not be worth it.

You can’t conpare the two cars. It’s like saying should I buy a Tag or a Patek? Both tell time.

the Speciale is a modern classic and it’s not something you are gonna want to put a ton of miles on. GT3 can easily be a daily driver.

if you have 400k to blow, buy a touring and a 458. Drive the hell out of both.

if you want an “investment” that is going to be a garage queen, buy the soeciale and take it out on special occasions but keep it parked.

rhe comparison however between the two is not logical.

No offense but this is one of the worst "which would you buy" comparisons....

I'd take the GT3 and 220k cash in pocket. Is that an option?

The first half million is the toughest. If you can afford to purchase and operate a Speciale, you can acquire both.

leaving aside the cost differential

i would say the gt3 touring is a certainly special car but the 458 speciale is even more special, much more so

Hell, I’d take a Speciale over a 911R any day. Probably over a 2011 RS 4.0 too. Blasphemy, I know.

I debated this also. I ended up getting the car I could drive more on a semi daily basis and was more engaging for me with a manual transmission...the GT3. The speciale is...well...special...I don't think you'll want to daily it...not practical and way too much attention. Also, there is no warranty left on them. For half price, get the GT3 touring with manual and enjoy it! Finally, if you can afford it and decide to get a speciale, go for the aperta.
