GT3 Touring vs 458 Speciale?
#16
I have both. Bought each new, obviously have had the Touring for much less time.
Tough to make a fair comparison given one costs double the other, other than to say the Speciale is very Ferrari while the Touring is a special Porsche. They are very different in some ways but both great to drive.
The Speciale is my favorite of the six Ferrari's I've owned, and has a wow and grin factor that is unmatched IMO. However it is LOUD and not an every day usable car.
The Touring flies much more under the radar, and handles/sounds amazing - unless you just stepped out of a Speciale.
Ultimate performance is comparable, though the Speciale is now 4 years old so it's now been surpassed by newer cars in that category.
Depreciation on both will be slow IMO if they are used as weekend cars, though for sure the Ferrari is more mileage sensitive.
if you can swing both do it.
Either is at the top of their respective brand families - it's just that Porsche is very different than Ferrari so neither is a direct substitute for the other.
Hope that helps.

Anyway, Just drove both, or almost literally, 2 days ago. 458 speciale aperta & 911r:, close enough And have driven them plenty in the past also. But feels like such a pointless comparison when one is 2x plus the price of the other, I wouldn't know where to begin. Also, i don't want to overplay my reviews. In bullet point format I'll be brief:
-458 Speciale
GOOD
Screaming engine
Very comfortable interior
Special factor
very balanced and playful for the track.. teaches you when you make a mistake.
Loud loud loud
BAD
transmission not as good as pdk
Under-tired front end on track
Build quality probably not as perfect as Porsche
Loud loud loud.
GT3
GOOD
911 driving dynamics if you like that sort of thing
Amazing engine as we know (better than R, let's not even go there)
Rear wheel steering is fantastic dynamically
Value for money can't be beat
BAD
uncomfortable compared to roomy 458 interior
It's not a Ferrari??
can't compare something which is 2x price.. if you have $450k to spend, sure get the Rari. But you can get a gt3T and be happy forever

Either you are a Porsche guy or you are a Ferrari guy. There is no gray area. Only new-be's and guys afraid of commitment would be on this flip-flop decision point...

Plenty of people that have both a Ferrari and a Porsche in the garage.
Its not an either or decision. For some it’s both.

lol. Right on. What is this blind allegiance nonsense. Either company would screw you in a heart beat to extract dollars from you. Till the companies start sending me a paycheck, I’ll just drive whatever car happens to fit the bill that day.

This dude had a GT3 and a Speciale and he dumped the Ferrari.
