Question on GT3 Park Place Allocation
#47
They should definitely give you your money back if you have no allocation though- but aren't they building through December? I wouldn't give up hope ALL the way yet, but also, I would not be on here complaining- I would be on the phone or at the dealer complaining-- or, more likely, being super nice and firmly asking about my car with regularity.

I find this very hard to believe. This is not how Park Place works. I have purchased two GT cars from them.
1. They only take 1k deposts6
2. They never tell you what number you are on the list. Each sales rep gets a certain number of allocations. There is not master list.
If you are in Atlanta, you probably won't get a car. Usually they reserve cars for local enthusiasts who support the brand.

1) not true
2) not true
Maybe they didn't tell you but they do tell

How about GT2RSs allot of rumors/speculation on actual numbers. The answer here may IMO help put things in perspective comparing GT3/3RS/2RS using the current inside info on Champion's 3RS and GT3 allocations.
GT3 to 3RS 2:1
I'm going to guess 15 2RS allocations i.e. 1/3 or less 3RS allocations

What a surprise - another "I didn't get a GT allocation" thread. If the issue is MSRP only, it sounds like you understand the process fairly well in that your going to wait. If the issue is you want a car, it also sounds like you understand there are plenty available.
Buy a car, and drive it now and find a happy medium in the price - or, unfortunately wait until an MSRP slot comes available for a GT car (which from experience, this can takes years), and guarantees are at a minimum with this across all dealers. Only guarantee is when the car arrives and keys are in your hand.

But you're right, from what I've seen there are few guarantees. I asked Park Place about a GT3 and I think they said they had 120 or so people on the list when I asked.

We were told that all GT3RS Allocations were reported all at once, and now the only way to increase that number is win regional contests between dealerships for monthly volume %

You can get lucky like me. I bought a GTS late last year, and a couple of months later I got a GT3 allocation at MSRP. The GTS was the only car I ever bought from them. I was even offered a GT3 at MSRP from another dealer that I never bought anything from. Miracles do happen.
But you're right, from what I've seen there are few guarantees. I asked Park Place about a GT3 and I think they said they had 120 or so people on the list when I asked.

2. I've never been told what number on the list I was on and neither have any of my friends. I've asked what number on the list I was before and my sales rep has always just told me you will get a car, just a matter of when.
I've always had a great experience at Park Place and prefer it if out of state buyers get their cars last. I like how Park Place takes care of local clients who go to the track, attend events and represent the brand.
1.7 ccw
Obviously not the 3.1 or 1.3. The 1.7 in either direction is within a couple seconds. Either way it is a pretty quick lap in a Cayman GTS with stock tires.

No judgment here, but why would you put a deposit down when you knew you'd be number 44 on the list? Most high volume dealerships I think get a max of 20 or so. Furthermore, I'm surprised that the dealership didn't advise you otherwise. If the dealership told you you'd have a chance, I'd definitely get a second opinion from others in the future. However, I could be completely wrong and that dealership could actually be getting 44, which would be pretty awesome.
