Default Throttle Plate Cacophony

So I briefly asked about this in the PTS thread, and it was confirmed earlier today by the service foreman at the dealership, and was told that the noise I hear on the .2 GT3 manual every time I or revmatch get on the throttle is the normal sound of the throttle plate.

Here's a quick clip of it ... you can hear it at the beginning of every time I hit the throttle.

Stupid thing is driving me nuts cause I have to hear it hundreds of times on every drive ... I'm not exaggerating that it's actually taking away from the pleasure of driving the car.

What's more my R doesn't make this noise ... not sure if it has to do with the SMF or something else but all that car does is sing.

I'm guessing there's no solution to this, so this post is half venting, and half in the hope that there is some sort of remedy for it.

Thanks.

Am I really the only one that finds this bothersome?

Yes, you are the only one! ; )

I rather like the noises from the engine mechanicals.

100% appropriate for a GT car as long as it doesn't loosen the butterfly and send screws flying into your plenum haha...

If desired there are quieter & more civilized experiences from the product line, no?

The R likely doesn’t make as much nose because it has an open rear deck, so there’s nothing to direct the sound towards the cabin. If you stood behind it and did this same test, I bet you’d hear it. The .2 GT3 has those lovely air scoops which are directing the sound right at your head.

My 991.2 GT3 manual makes the same noise, although I think I only really notice it when starting off in first gear. As long as it is supposed to make that sound then I think I like having a bit more mechanical noise for a car of this purpose. I don't recall hearing anything like it in the GT4.

It's definitely a bit annoying / unnecessary. I was wondering what that thing was for a while too, since it only seems to happen when you hit the throttle aggressively enough. It's clearly to make the engine rev as quickly as possible, but I think they could have compromised by opening the throttle instantly to ~95%, and then ramp it up to 100% over another split second (to keep the plate from slamming against the throttle body like to hear).

I annoys the sh*t out of me as well. I actually don't like the .2 GT3 for several reasons, and this is one of them. I'm glad I kept my .1's, because I'll likely be dumping the .2. I also think that the ride s*cks, and the front end is fugly.

And by the way, who cares whether it annoys anyone else. You're the one who paid the money for the car, so you're the only one you have to worry about pleasing. There is no rule that says just because the car wears a PORSCHE badge, you MUST like it. I don't like mine, so I'll be getting rid of it. Problem solved. If Porsche can't build a car that I like, I'll just stop buying them.

Yep. That’s exactly what mine sounds like. 100%. Rev - CLICK. Now that I know it’s “normal” I am surprised more people say that their car is not doing that. Must be some trivial adjustment to remove this sound.

I love that sound.

Reminds me "because race car" but then again I must be going deaf anyway because I drive a lot. Use mine as a daily. Some people have the ability to block out annoying noise they hear like Mom's blocking's our the kids screaming.

I agree with the idea that I'm sure this could be adjusted out to make it almost unnoticeable.
