Default Sebring Thurs. Sept. 6th open track day, Windows up, AC on :-)

For Florida guys:

Hotel:
Chateau phone number: 1-863-655-7200

Things to know:
  • we are allowed to drive windows up.
  • We only have room for a couple more cars, so email me first.
  • Full day track time. Drivers meeting 8AM, open track all day from 8:00 - 17:00 (Track cold 12:00-13:00)
  • Gate opens at 6:00.
  • Passing anywhere with point by in the corners by hand or by turn signal.
  • We will be able to park dry and shaded in the Pit garages.
  • Short shorts allowed.
  • Drivers must be 18.
  • Experienced drivers only with good situational awareness.
There is also weightloss regular track day with Chin Friday Sept 7 and PBOC Saturday and Sunday.

Appearantly, it isn't the track or the insurance company that doesnt allow windows up.
Just confirm Its OK for track rescue to break glass.

I'm in but I won't be wearing short shorts and I sure hope you aren't.

I can’t guarantee long pants but with the AC blasting it may be doable.
Even Chin allows short the next day, I believe.

Its not the shorts I worry about it is the Short Shorts you mentioned that scares me.

Finally! I have never been one to be jealous of the Europeans but it always annoyed me seeing them drive windows up while sweating here in soflo. Hopefully Chin, PCA and PBOC wake up soon follow suit. Well done Peter.

I'll be there on Friday, Peter. Couldn't do Thursday due to work commitment. Maybe I should try windows up Friday and hope the corner workers forget.

Calling north Florida and Georgia SmokiesGT guys or RL pals , you all need to rally up with Sean and his soon to arrive GT2 RS and do the the break in miles heading south bound for the first TRAKCAR NATION WINDOWS UP skilled driver private day at Sebring on the 9/6
Chin still has 11 openings for their Skilled only drivers day the next day Friday 9/7
You all will have plenty of Honey Dew points having just been so wonderful with your BBQ duties for all for the Labor Day holiday weekend , hehe

For those interested in insurance for the day,I received this email from The Open Track Insurance, if anyone doesn’t have track insurance and wants to be covered for our day:

From: Ben Phillips <bp@opentrack.com>
Sent: Tuesday, August 14, 2018 9:57 AM
To: Peter@trakcar.com
Cc: Sue Rieschl <sr@opentrack.com>; bp@theopentrack.com; sr@theopentrack.com
Subject: Re: Peter Bekkers, IMAGLAF17 - 17/18 OpenTrack Renewal Policy

Hey Peter, Hope you're great Sir. So I am not sure if you saw on our new website, but we now also have an on-demand daily policy. It would be perfect for the guys that are going out to the track with you on Sept 6th. It's a single day of coverage vs. having to buy an entire event coverage w/ the others (where you pay the same price whether you track 1 day or 4 days). We would love if you sent a note to everyone letting them know they can now purchase a single day of coverage... they only pay for what they use. BP

Sounds great!

Let's both ask about closed windows during driver meeting.

I shopped around for insurance and got a better 1day rate from OpenTrack. On 118k they were less by over $200 and I got insurance for track damage too.

Very excited about this day....and THEY....said it couldn’t be done!....I know I asked... Well so having to run windows down...that’s definitely not true....running windows up is safer by all accounts in modern day cars....all manufactures than run track events use windows up. I know I’ve done Porsche and AMG track events at Sebring, Barber and Road Atlanta...with the same corner workers and track safety crew I do DE with. Having your arm off the steering wheel flailing away out the window for a point by is stupid...blinkers make so much more sense....not having debris, tire clag coming through windows will be awesome...plus yes the sheer comfort of AC on will be nice. Know if I’m in an accident with windows up and knowing my side air bags will work as designed and not go flapping out the open window in the way it should be.

Its time for a change with DE’s...and this is the 1st major step!

I agree. Chin is halfway there with the ability to use blinkers. Windows up should be an option as well at tracks that allow it. You never know...
