Default 500 Miles review of my newly acquired 991.1 GT3

Hi!

Drove about 500 miles since I purchased my 2015 991.1 GT3 last thursday.
I wanted to give a quick feedback on my initial impressions.
First of all I live in Los Angeles so, as you may know, traffic is a royal pain in the behind.

The transmission is lightning fast but it is not made for stop and go traffic.
If you are in regular mode (non sport) transmission shifts too fast from first-second-third and then downshifts erratically. I prefer to change gears myself in manual mode.

Engine is fantastic. I do not have to tell you that. You know it already.
I have the original engine and knock on wood nothing will happen although it is great to know that because of the hard work of fellow Rennlist members, Porsche extended the warranty to 10 years and or 120k miles.
Thank you again for that.

Brakes: I have PCCB and for my taste they squeak way too much. Immense stopping power which is what they were designed for. Porsche checked them and they told me everything is good but especially at low speeds, lots of squeaking. Is there any fix to the squeaking?

The exhaust note (i have stock exhaust) is great at higher RPM...listening to it with the engine revving towards 9k RPM is like a Beethoven Symphony.
I might consider to add a Sharkwerks Bypass exhaust but you will have to tell me if it is worth it.

I could not live without the Axle Lyft system and I use it all the time. I love it.
I changed a lot of cars but this has to be one of the lowest when it comes to ground clearance.

Adaptive sport seats plus (18 way) are great, very supportive and very comfortable. At first I asked your opinion if bucket seats were a must but I find these much more comfortable.

If you are in the LA area, I would love to meet with other GT3 owners to go to the track and on some canyon runs if possible.

Thanks,

Toni

Congrats again man, glad you're enjoying it and she looks fantastic.

It's also very refreshing to hear people like yourself excited about driving these cars ... I wish we had more of that.

All the best.

It will not be a garage queen. It was my dream car and i will not let it sit in the garage.
Rest assured of that!
Thanks.

Props to you for using it. My RS was driven 500 miles by previous owner in the one year he owned it. I’ve driven over 300 in 3 weeks with one track day. I highly recommend the GMG center exhaust. The sound is well worth the money.

1.2 gt3's have been all the rage as it is the newest

but i still love the 1.1 cars... 3.8 engine is brilliant and only lacks brutal midrange torque introduced in the new 4.0, but then you need to rev out the 3.8 and OMG that is what it is made to do!!!!!!!!!

the advancement of the chassis over 997 gen is simply light years, even if it reduces the 'tactile nature' somewhat

enjoy!

Did not drive a 991.2 GT3 yet.
I am excited to experience that as well.
Really like the idea of the manual with power shifts.
I have been a manual guy all my life.

Somebody is actually driving their car. OP, you might want to label this thread OT so people don’t mistakenly wander in here.

Seriously, congrats on the car and glad you like it!

Congrats! Yes, manual shifting is the best way to go. I highly recommend a center section exhaust bypass (GMG, GRP, sharkwerks). It completes the car

I have the SW with the valves open all the time. Perfect sound, no drone.

I don’t have as sensitive ear as most, so I think they all sound good! IMO GMG has the deepest sound and is a little louder than the others. Sharkwerks sounds closer to stock, but with more volume. BBI/GRP sound pretty similar to GMG to me

how does it do crawling around in traffic? I know you said the auto trans setting is not great, but in manual, does it crawl through traffic ok, or does it hop around and rumble and complain about stop and go traffic?

Switching to manual improves it but if you compare it with a regular pdk (I had a 991 carrera pdk before this one), there is a big difference.
