Porsche got smart. 1) they charged more and offered more slots for pts and 2) they offered jelly bean std/special colors that could have only been approximated via pts before. Have they offered this wild of colors on special cars since the 70's? Good on Porsche.
I'll agree with you to a point, the fact that Porsche has Miami Blue and Lava Orange as color choices now does not make a full pallet of colors, but it is a slight improvement. Unfortunately these two colors I would not consider 'jelly bean' or pure colors- they both have an undertone of additional colors that change the tone to be something else, IMHO. This is why I spent extra for Pastel Orange over Lava. I give Porsche a C- grade for color.

The fact the fact that you got a pastel orange is part of what I'm talking about (probably the part you agree with?). In years past (pre 991), not only was Lava not available, getting pts in a GT was either nearly or literally impossible. Hence the absolute froth for anything other than some derivative of white/black/grey/silver (ok, maybe an occasional red or yellow on non-RS). The point is when you offer white, grey and a metallic blue as the only options for 997.2rs (with tiny number of pts), black or white on 4.0, and then start the 991.1gt3 with very limited std colors, at the same time market is pricing ANY kind of scarcity to the moon; Porsche all-the-sudden offering a lotta color and pts has changed things. Other than the orange/green 997.1rs and that late PTS bonus round of 991.1gt3, go try to google bright colors for GT cars. You will get pics of the same handful of the same cars over and over. Google 991.1-3rs and later GT cars and it looks like Crayola sponsored a Coldplay concert. White is the new pts

Sorry to say that the facts (facts) are that you are wrong on this. But if you want believe it, go right ahead!

I give PAG a failing F grade on colors & the way the are running the PTS program.

I never claimed Porsche was running their pts program well. They've botched that; they continue to over-promise and under-deliver. We agree on that. My assessment on the pts premium is spot on and there are plenty of market facts floating around to prove that including this ad.

I won't argue with you on nuances of pts program; we all know most on here yield to you in that arena. And I've reached out to before for advice. But the market is what the market is and pts premiums are WAY off from what were ridiculous levels not so long ago, driven by super scarcity of color on the prior gen and start of 991 cycle gt's.

I have an interesting color in my own small collection that would have fetched about 20% more than it would today.

You should have no problem getting your $30K over MSRP on this nice spec. Hold onto it until you find the right buyer!

When you overbuild for your pleasure you lose on those options, even a GT3...... at this point in time and supply for sale the car should sell under 200k at 190k.......all the cars for sale probably sell for 10-20 under asking anyways.....

Something is worth what someone is willing to actually pay. This has been the case since bills of sale were written on stone tablets.
