Not sure if my imagination but the steering seems a bit lighter/less feedback on high speed cornering than the Mk1, would need to back to back them to be sure. Perhaps can be resolved with minor alignment adjustment.
Henry Catchpole while testing .2 3RS reported the same

Springs are harder so aero doesn't put so much weight as it did with the .1rs. That's the only explanation that could make sense.

Per Porsche:

991.1 GT3: 7:25
991.1 GT3 RS: 7:20
2018 GT3: 7:12
2019 GT3 RS: 6:56 (16 secs faster than 991.2 GT3)

At Sebring (1/3 the lap time of the Nurburgring), I can't imagine a 991.1 GT3 lapping 10 seconds slower than a 991.2 GT3 RS with a talented driver and equal tires.

If the Cup2R can truly match the grip levels of the Hoosier R7, the Cup2R will gain 2 secs per minute of lap time compared to the TrofeoR and MPSC2 from a 991.1 GT3RS, I have done multiple Hoosier vs. a long list of sticky tires (RE71R, MPSC2, TrofeoR, V720, Corsa, others) tests on my own just for fun and a variety of cars.

I know Kumho made a misleading V720 on 295x19 and 345x19, it is supposed to be a 200TW tire, but it gets ruined in 6-8 track sessions. Some Viper ACR/ACR-E owners switched to Hoosier R7 and barely got any better lap times (295 and 345 R7). I wonder if Michelin is playing by the same handbook with the Cup2-R, good for their business.

IMO, these comments are on the mark. On the same track with equal tires, I would guess that the differences in lap times are more incremental than what Porsche's numbers indicate. A lot of games are being played with tires these days, often tires which aren't durable and therefore hardly anyone would actually use them.

This guy seem to be proving your point, but maybe he's much better driver than the other RSes. (I don't know him, nor how his car is setup)

He is very good in my opinion.

All things equal, not sure there is such time difference between 991 GTs .... tires are amplifying the differences very likely.

Very hard to judge fairly with different drivers, likely different rubber, set ups etc...the only real fair way is to have the same driver on the same track with the same tires do back to back laps for comparison.
I agree. A lot of tire cheating going on to get these time at the Ring for bragging rights.

What I will say is that they are ALL cheating with cheater tires so the times are likely a somewhat fair comparison.

This is hilarious; history repeats itself. Every time Porsche releases a new or updated model everyone on RL spouts off about the how the new model is inferior and a step backwards compared to the prior model...which was oddly inferior to the prior model. Porsche is the only company on earth that remains viable despite releasing progressively inferior products year after year.

The cheater tires for the .2 RS seem to be a lot grippier than those on the .1 RS (and .1 GT3 and .2 GT3), so I don't think it's a fair comparison. We need the tires to be equal for a fair comparison. My guess is that the .2 RS will be 1-2 secs max faster per lap than the .1 RS on a typical US track with equal tires.

BTW, I've tried the N0 and N1 Cup 2 for the .1 and .2 GT3, and didn't really notice a difference between them.

There is little doubt the 991.2 is superior to 991.1, at least for the GT3 (I own a 991.1 GT3)
I **believe** that the same applies to GT3 RS. (The ones that own both RSes published a few comments about street driving, which support the premise -PDK improved and better power range-, have not seen much about track, but no reason to believe otherwise)
I'm curious about what the actual overall performance difference is, given the same conditions (track, driver, tires, setup, etc...)

But that would make it about equal to .2 GT3, and it has hugely more aero and wider tires than .2 GT3.

I'm tending to agree with others that the 7:20 for the .1 RS likely underestimates the pace compared to the .1 GT3. I would guess that .2 GT3 and .1 RS are pretty close, and could be convinced that the .2 GT3 might be a bit faster than the .1 RS (same peak power, fatter torque curve, hidden aero with the diffuser, possibly improved suspension tuning, etc.). Do we have CD and downforce numbers handy for all four cars?

On same tires as .1 GT3 and same day on track with pro drivers, if .1 GT3 is 7:25, I'm thinking:

.1 GT3 7:25
.1 RS 7:16
.2 GT3 7:12
.2 RS 7:07

Sounds plausible. That would be about 1.28s per minute faster .2 RS vs. .1 RS, which translates to 1.6 - 2.6s per lap on US tracks. I still think that .2 RS difference with .2 GT3 is going to be bigger than 0.85s per minute, though - it has so much more aero, plus wider tires. We will know for sure soon enough.

I agree with you word for word and i suspect the times you quote are pretty accurate IMO..
