I’m surprised there aren’t more folks discussing the dangers of running a cage and using harnesses on the street.
I know when I put them in my gt4 it was a calculated thought process/ risk. Its a car I push to the near limit on track. A good spin into a barrier could cause some harm if I have my harness on and no HANS.

So true. The best improvement in lap times one can make is to improve the device operating the controls to the device it wants to go faster.
My first day at a race school (after a year of hpde’s) the first thing I learned was how much I didn’t know.

And you would be surprised at how many folks wear 6 pts on the street thinking it’s a safer than a 3 pt.

...like I said, it’s a calculated risk/reward. You can present any scenario you want to state the positives and I could give another for the negatives. Tell me how that’s going to help you when you have a impact that pushes a seat into the bar? Or better yet you or a passenger bangs their head during an impact.

A 6-pt could be safer on the street than 3-pt for some scenarios, but I only use the 3-pt on the street. When I have passengers at the track, I generally advise them to use the 3-pt rather than the 6-pt if they don't have a HANS.

Is a 6 pt even street legal? It’s not in CA.

I do the same. I always advise to use the 3pt as well unless like you said, they have a HANS.
