Default Trade my '18 GT3 (Manual) for '16 RS (500 miles)?

I haven't been able to get an allocation on a new RS but was fortunate to take delivery of a new GT3 back in April (well-optioned, Carrara White, 6 SPD, and in love).

My dealer called today and asked if I was interested in a super low mileage RS in Lava.

I'm not overly inclined to make this move but thought I'd seek the wisdom of the group here, particularly those that have "played the allocation game" and moved between cars. Thoughts / opinions?

I'm pretty well-versed in the world of GT3's but haven't tracked pricing / depreciation / appreciation on the RS's.

The biggest question you have to answer is do you prefer PDK or manual, I have both. They drive similar. The RS is definitely more raw, but power is similar. Manual is more fun and engaging but the RS just looks bad ***

It mainly comes down to whether you enjoy manual or PDK more, IMHO. I love the .1 RS visually c/w the .2 GT3 (and I like it better than the .2 3RS as well) and I traded my manual .2 GT3 in for an incoming .2 3RS as I was ready for the change back to PDK (had a GT4 prior to GT3 so couple years of manual driving got it out of my system for a bit).

Also- RS market is soft. GT3 market is hot. Dealer is trying to get you to buy a "older" harder to move car. Something to think about.

Appreciate the quick replies. Think I'll go see it in the next day or two and see how it feels.

Frankly, the idea of going from "brand new and my spec" to "barely used but not my spec (no matter how much I like the spec)" feels a little off. First world prob, I know.

Agree with your thoughts on the state of the market. .1 RS market is frothy.

As mentioned it comes down to a few questions that only you can answer

1. Transmission: PDK (RS) vs. 6MT (GT3)
2. Engine: Both 4.0L however revline 8,800 (RS) vs. 9,000 (GT3)
3. Driving feel: Raw (RS) vs. refined (GT3)
4. Exterior: That wing & scoops/vents (RS) vs. refined & understated (GT3)
5. Character: An RS is an RS!!

You decide! Personally, I would hang on to the .2 GT3 for a bit longer and wait on a .2 RS allocation (I heard more are being allocated).

Go with your gut! You have a car that you specced and that has a superior engine. No way I would make that trade.

Point #5 is really the only reason I'm even asking!

Hold onto your GT3 you have 4 years of warnt/coverage, and the .1RS will continue to correct below MSRP vs. your current. The RS is still an RS, but I would wait as the 2019 RS 's hit the ground the .1's will slide no need to be apart of the wave.

Id personal keep the Gt3, drive it for a few years and then get the .2RS when prices settle.

Will echo others, stick with GT3 .2, reassess late next season, let a .2 RS come to you if you can make the PDK->MT transition. You are sitting pretty with your current spec, don't get caught up in the nonsense.
