Trade my '18 GT3 (Manual) for '16 RS (500 miles)?

.1RS is an epic ride with a great 4.0. It’s a great engine. All this talk about the new engine being “better” is silly from a real world standpoint. Absolutely nothing wrong with .1RS 4.That motor was used in the 2015 GT3R And perform flawlessly and we usedand the 991R. The .1RS is tracked and driven hard by many owners many of whom are
Members right here. There is yet to be one reported valvetrain failure on a.1 RS that I know of here. All the early 3.8 L valve issues were resolved before They built the 4.0 L for the 991.1 RS and R
Do what you want but in my book a GT3 doesn’t compare to the above in looks and presence. My old .1RS.

I’m happy with my .1RS choice over .2GT3. I’ve had just 1 track day as I’ve only had it for a couple weeks. So far quite thrilled.

I'd wait till the .2RS production is over and dealer refund my deposit, then look for a .1 RS, if I still want one. Plenty of them on the market and price is unlikely to go up.
Just be patient and enjoy your GT3 for a few months.

As mentioned it comes down to a few questions that only you can answer
1. Transmission: PDK (RS) vs. 6MT (GT3)
2. Engine: Both 4.0L however revline 8,800 (RS) vs. 9,000 (GT3)
3. Driving feel: Raw (RS) vs. refined (GT3)
4. Exterior: That wing & scoops/vents (RS) vs. refined & understated (GT3)
5. Character: An RS is an RS!!
You decide! Personally, I would hang on to the .2 GT3 for a bit longer and wait on a .2 RS allocation (I heard more are being allocated).

Transmission: not comparable
1 Hanry Catchpole prefers the .3GT3 over the .2RS
go figure the obsolete .1RS...
2. Engine: Both 4.0L however GT3 has a real Motorsport one whilst the RS one was an attempt but soon aborted from Motorsport
And redline 8,500 (RS) vs. 9,000 (GT3)
3. Driving feel: same
4. aestethic is subjective
5. Character: An RS is an RS but this one is the less RS ever produced from Porsche in other words more a Tokio car than an RS
You decide! As ever....

So true. I’ve been guilty of this in the past. Buy a car. Immedetosly start looking for the next one cause it has white trim instead of black and it has 4 hp more.
Just enjoy the hell out of what you have and drive it into the ground. The next one is not better. It’s just the next one.
Isn't there a thread going right now about all the .2GT3 mt for sale?
Very simply if we are in a cliche contest then here’s my entry. “Strike while the iron’s hot”.
.1RS values are very reasonable now..around Msrp. If they drop further so Will values of .2GT3.
No brainer in my book. RS with out a second thought.
.2 RS will be produce only through 2nd quarter ‘19 supposedly. If you can get an allocation at msrp than that’s what you should do. They will always sell at a premium over .1RS. Right now the few existing.2RS examples are advertised for sale for around $300k. Don’t expect to score an existing .2RS for Msrp anytime soon.
You want an killer drop dead .1RS. I can tell you where you can buy my old one. My wife still wants me to go get it back. PM me. Likely can by it at msrp which was around $210k. No brainer. It has beautiful $7000 satin Xpel body wrap too.

.1 4.0 was used in GT3R in 2015. Ran flawlessly and are in 2015 GT3R customer cars. Motorsport. Done. Was never “aborted” . Nonsense.
Mezger GT3 and RS’s and Cups are hydroelectric valved. And????
Bottom line. .1 4.0 is a great engine. RS is the way to go in any gen imho.

4.0 ran in GT3R without issue. It also had had zero failures like the 3.8 that I'm aware of! Seems like quite a strong lump. I drove the 4.0 in the new GT3 and to call it day and night is really really stretching things!

^ +1 I don't know where fxz got all that "not real motorsport engine"..."aborted" nonsense he was spewing! The 4.0L in the .1 RS is a rock solid, race proven reliable engine! My comment to the OP was to hang on for a bit longer as the .2 RS is really what he wants and I firmly believe he can secure one at MSRP with a bit of patience. The other point that made a lot of sense was the great post about "values". (1) Inventory for the .1 RS is rising, (2) 'days to sale' is also rising (the .1 RS's are sitting on dealer lots longer) and (3) prices are falling/softening! This is the perfect tri-fecta for a buyer's market. Some patience will likely see the OP either (a) secure a .2 RS allocation, hopefully at MSRP or (b) pick up a .1 RS at an even greater financial bargain.

I definitely will keep the manual GT3. They will stop making manual NA GT cars one day and everyone will regret not keeping one.
Plenty of time to buy .1RS or .2RS in the future. Lots were made.
