should I buy a Canadian car

should I buy a Canadian car
I am looking at purchasing 911 R that was a Canadian delivery car legally imported into the US by an authorized Porsche Dealer, and CPO'd in the US and now being sold by a high end used car lot. Will I have problems registering this car?

You might encounter a few problems with a Canadian car, such as:
- the heater's stuck on full blast
- all that funny spelling in the owner's manual
- the odometer goes up 1.6x faster than normal

If it has been legally imported into the US, then you will have no problems registering the car.
There are no real differences between the Canadian spec and US spec except the units of measurements on the dash. Digital units are changable into US units of measure. Canadian cars have permanently on day time running lights. Also, when people look up your car's build sheet with a VIN they will see all the prices in CAD as well as the option names (sometimes the same option is named slightly differently in the two countries).
Personally, there's no reason not to buy a Canadian car. However, you may suffer lower resale due to the 911R's position as a collector's item. Unfortunately, a collector buyer is the person most likely to give a crap over meaningless things like that.

Non issue. You can even import them yourself if motivated. My RS is a Canadian Ebola car.

for me, it don't matter if the car is from Egypt, Ukraine, Turkey, or The Gambia....an R is an R is an R
for the right price and right previous owner(s), I'd do it in a heartbeat....

That sounds like the car that was auctioned unsuccessfully on BAT. You might want to see what some of the comments on that car were. The car has the dual mass flywheel which I think detracts from it quite a bit and some other less desirable options. Just go in with your eyes wide open on it, been for sale for a long time.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but when I bought mine a few months ago, I was told if you're buying one from a used car lot, the CPO does not stay with the car. Private owner (with dealer inspection) or dealer only...

I included a link of that auction in my post.
If that is the car you are looking at, it is only worth considering if you love the spec, plan to keep it for a very long time, and get it at a huge discount, because that is a spec without any of the ‘must have’ options that almost no one wants on top of being a Canadian car, so it will be very difficult to unload, as the current dealer is finding out.

This is the same car that we have discussed to great lengths- bottom line is that it’s a weird build with a weird history. Canadian dealers weren’t supposed to be trading these directly out to other dealers. Still overpriced imo especially with a strange history.

My 996 GT3 is a US car. No big deal.
But ... if you think you might trade it in at some point, a US dealer may not take in a foreign spec car on trade as it could be harder to move.
Having said that demand for a limited edition car like the R crosses borders. It isn't a regular Carrera.
