Beautiful, congrats!

Did you spec mag wheels? If so will you wait to do the comparison until they come in? Not sure how much lap time difference there will really be, but maybe just a bit. Also, how many "break in miles" are you planning to do before the big day?

That thing looks amazing. Congrats!

Yes, did spec the Mag wheels and have no idea when they will be in. Also short one carbon steering wheel which will also be shipped when produced

Great thread! Some data from my RA lapping events: (all very conservative cornering speeds w no drama)
918: 2:20 best, 187 mph into turn 1, 172 mph into turn 5
GT2RS: 2:28 best in first day, 170 mph into turn 1, 162mph into turn 5. I think it's got upper teens in it. Back later this month to work this on fresh N rubber
and pads (change both after 4 HPD days).

After chasing other cars there my hunch is the lighter cup car on slicks should lap faster by many seconds. Good luck with the competition!

For reference, at spa the pace for the 991 cup is around 2:35, manthey just did a 2:31 during tests with the gt2 rs i think on non r tires, but probably on kw competition and trofeo r...
oh and at portimao track the fast page on cups is 1:54-55 the 991.1 rs did 1:57, can't see the gt2 rs being only 2 seconds faster than the 991.1rs on portimao with that massive straight

Wow, that 918 was moving! Wonder what it would do driven with commitment on current Cup R tires...

i don't know where you get your Cup laptimes but a 991 Cup is absolutely not 2:35 at Spa but more like 2:25 if not a bit faster.

the Manthey 2rs that did 2:31 was on the Cup2 R tyre as well.

Sooo looking forward to the results of this comparison.
My local track, which hosts Cup races every year, was visited by a GT2RS several times this year. A skilled amateur driver it was doing the 4 kilometre lap in low 1:40s. Cup car with a pro driver runs low 1:32s.
By the looks of it Road America is much, much faster, but don't see how a GT2 could make up all that time on the straights.
My bet is for a 10s+ advantage for the Cup car.
Great thread!

yes, Manthey car 2.35 on Cup2; 2.31 on Cup R. Very hot day so still some time in the locker, but not Cup car speed.

Maybe not these days? The Cup tires are expensive and short lived. Who would have thought it would be cheaper to run Hoosier than what came on the car but that seems to be the case now sometimes.

I think this test is right leaving the car as they come.
But yes, I went Hoosiers because cheaper and more fun due to 19” CoG drop!

There’s not a video of the 2.35 on Cup2, but here is the Cup R version, it’s fitted with the MR suspension
Not a max lap, as you will see.
