Any rematch really needs to be against the 991.2 Cup. Bear in mind that the 991.1 Cup is running the old Mezger motor from the 997 whereas the street RS is now on second gen 9A1 motor. 991.2 Cup is a significant step up in power and torque over 991.1 Cup.

This comparison, while informative and entertaining, was comparing old race tech vs new street tech. A true apples to apples street vs race car comparison will have to wait for the upcoming GT2 RS Club racer.....or compare 991.2 3RS vs 991.2 Cup.

Need?

I don't think any of this is on a need basis, especially considering all of the handicaps the 2RS had in the first test. It would be nice to see a properly equipped and setup 2RS in Sellers hands. And, at some point, a more equivalent tire for a true apples comparison.

Now that Thermal is starting to cool off with the fall weather around the corner, we will do some lap time comparisons for sure to really see what the different setups will translate into regarding lap times.

Again though.....what an awesome comparison!! Well done!!
James, you are spot on! My guess would be at least a 2 second betterment with adjustments and more practice laps. Not ever having driven the car and bone stock settings clearly make the difference. The Cup on the other hand, was set up for the clubrace and clearly ready to run based on times. We can all make our mental adjustments based on setup and tires but this was designed to give us all a baseline. I am glad everyone enjoyed it as much as you did. It was meant to be fun and stimulate discussions and it did!! The video and article will be out soon and I will continue to post updates!

I appreciate all the gratitude from everyone. Below are some pics from the event.

Got word from PCA that video and data should be done shortly. I thought with the Motor Trend article out and all the hype around the 2RS it would be great to see the info from the track day!

Great pictures and thanks for pulling this together!

Any chance we could get the driving opinion - something along the lines of 'This was the easiest/most difficult/what ever car to drive' ?

It would be interesting to see if the couple of seconds was at the expense of a nail biting event!

Thanks

Ray

Just received word that video will be released Friday at which time Data and in car video can be released. I would have loved to put it up sooner but I was asked to wait by all the folks that supported the event and did not want to upstage them. Fingers crossed for Friday.

Photos are great!

GT2RS - lots of flare and elegance.

GT3CUP - all business go fast car.

Just received first draft of video for my input. Looks great. Trying to get more data in the video for everyone to see. If they cannot get it in, I will post full side by side lap with Aim Data along with video.

Good stuff. Grip > power. The cup car pulled way ahead in one lap.
