Ya, but he says it could have been the GT3 or GT3RS engine and that they used the R engine because it was on the shelf.
Chris says 991.2 GT3RS engine so my money is on that. ;-)

Used 911R engine but GT3 slushbox (i.e., no SMFW). Odd. But just prototype, nothing yet decided. Seems quite late in 991 cycle for no decision.

I think it's a bit of a hard sell with just a tonneau cover, or did I miss a reference to a manual top along the lines of a Boxster Spyder? If no top, Porsche could probably balance the supply and demand with a run of 356 units.

The idea of a topless 911r is pretty fun, minus the fact you can't really tour in it if you ever expect to get caught in rain...but then again who would do such a thing... ... ...

It is going to have a real soft top roof. I actually really like tonneau cover vehicles. I have one for my Defender 90. If you get caught in rain you don’t get all that wet driving because you are on the seat and are presumably wearing a rain coat. But on a 911 with carpet and leather it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
Also, anyone notice the wear (patina) on the seat handle?

So in other words it’s all BS since everything about the production car has already been determined and settled?

No top is a deal killer for me. You can't get out of the rain or sun. This will be another garage queen.

No top is not a problem. No one will drive this in the rain unless they get caught in it. Cars and Coffee/Donuts/Croissants usually on sunny days. Just keep a tarp handy.

It does look pretty good. I hope they keep some of the retro styling cues.
Not that I could ever get one but I am not a Convertible guy but does not mean I do not appreciate the car- I like to be covered. I once bought a 2011 White R8 V10 Spyder because I thought it actually looked better than the coupe. Never took the top down and traded 5 months later.

If Porsche makes 1948 of these without a top, I'd wait and pick it up under MSRP. No top, no sale.
