GT2/GT3.2 RS break in process
I do not want to start another circuitous and annoying thread on this topic....but I thought you might be interested in what the European owners manual says about the GT2/GT3 RS break in period.
With a new car, the moving parts must first be run into each other.
This requires the first 3000kms (991 gt2 rs) and 1,500 km (911 g3 rs, 991 gt3) respectively. The oil and fuel consumption can be higher than the normal values during this time.
Drive during the break in period as follows:

- Often avoid cold starting in combination with kory rides if possible.
- Avoid high speeds of more than 4,000 revolutions per minute (911 gt2 rs) and 7,000 revolutions per minute (911gt3 rs, 911gt3) respectively.
- With a cold engine drive with lower speeds.

My usual 0.02c:
drove it from rom factory to the Ring.
went through the gates with couple hundred miles the next morning.
next days was Spa and another 8 tracks for 20 track days in 4 weeks.
Now 30,000 miles about half at the track it’s running great with minimal oil use.
Oil lab report seems good.
always warmed it up and cooled it down carefully.

looks like on modern GT cars the consensus procedure is
1st drive it like you've just stolen it
2nd sell it with adm after 800miles pretending is brand new
rinse and repeat until the next financial crisis

Good thing Chris posts this. Everybody does with his own car what he wants, break it in or drive it like you stole it. You pay the money, you decide. But that decision should not be based on the rennlist myth that there are no break in instructions in the European manuals ! And I think that is the point Chris is trying to convey ?!

Much more reasonable. I generally have done this with my cars except I open up after 600 miles.

The new 4.0 Engine is so stiff and cranky for the first 500 miles it is so noticeable. So I think a modest break in would be a smart move.

Yup. The PDK was also stiff and cranky. Noisier too. Noticed a progressive improvement in crankiness and noise in the whole drive train over the first several hundred miles. Convinced me to go the whole 2,000 mile USA break in route, though in retrospect I would say the Euro way as enumerated by the OP seems more reasonable.

This is great news. I thought I was going to have to keep the .2 GT3 below 4K RPM during break-in, which would have been excruciating.
7K is so much more manageable.
