GT3 Touring vs. 911 T
#16
As you have great cars in your garage I would not bother so much to downgrade from the Touring to the Carrera T.
Actually as you mentioned in US Carrera T is the only car you can spec with RWD, bucket seats and RAS.
This car will be quite sporty and better daily than your touring but it's up to you what you like to drive.
I had similar issues in the past choosing between GT3 and GTS and based on my demands and personal usage I specked my 991.2 GTS, RWD, RAS, Sport bucket memory seats and minimal specs to be as close as a GT car.
For sure will never be a GT car but as I plan to use it 80% road and 20% track I believe GTS suits better my requirements.
Based on my specs I saved also 60K.
I spend too much time in this forum reading reviews and comments but finally I ordered the car is suitable for me and not for the next buyer or other forum members.
Enjoy your time to decide your next car and drive safely.

Personally never liked turbos mainly for the sound (lag I can get over). Only exception was my 208 GTS Turbo, which sounded like the apocalypse thanks to Tubi.

Very much appreciated from the owners perspective on the T. With regards to Mclaren’s - I hated my test drive on the mp4. I was bored with my drive in the 650. I was unimpressed with my drive in the 570. The turbo lag on all these was too annoying for my taste.
the 720 while it still has some lag, it’s a step above previous Mclaren’s.
But it appreciate the comments on the T from an owner.

I've driven a 991 911S and it was completely underwhelming. The 991.2 GTS is better, but still not a GT. Someone earlier posted that they don't see a night and day difference between the two and perhaps it's a matter of personal perspective - in my experience the GT cars are different beasts entirely. I'd rate the Carrera vs GT3 experience similar to a stock Miata vs a Spec Miata - blindfolded I would guess they are either two different models or two different makes entirely!

I’d probably do it; drive them both. I don’t agree with a lot of the comments about the GT3 being on a different level. On the track, yes, on a road in a city, no. I have read several reviews that indicated that the T was more fun than a Touring because you have to be committing a felony to push a Touring anywhere near the limit. I used to have a Lotus Exige that was fun at 40 mph; the Touring is fun at lose your license speeds imo. The capability of the Touring is so high I virtually never get there on the street. I also don’t agree that a Touring sounds better; I have a 991.2 4S Cab and a Touring. The Cab in Sport or Sport + sounds much better than the touring (in fairness because the top is always down). If I could only have one car it would be the cab unless I was worried about resale value.

Why did you decide to sell yours?

I didn’t want to continue comparison but highlight that with relative minor modifications the Carrera T can go 1/4 mile in under 10 sec. that is faster than the new 992 Turbo Sm Aventador, and 720S

Yes, but what happens when you have to turn? Y'know, cuz not all roads are straight.

This thread gives me a case of the sads. I miss my touring. Am on the hunt to replace it but no garage space and the wife wants a vacation home instead. :
