Would this GT3 have had an engine replacement?

All 2014s and most 2015s had the engine replaced. Many had it replaced again. Ask dealer to check. But if the engine was not replaced, it will be replaced once it's breaks (and the original one will break), so it pretty much does not matter if it was replaced or not - you will end up with an updated and warrantied engine, either way, it's just that if it was not replaced, you may end up spilling guts all over the highway somewhere and then getting it replaced.

Agreed on all 2014s, not so sure about most 2015s.

I don't believe it is correct that "most 2015s" have had engines replaced. Mine has not. Whether most will or not before the extended warranty is up, time will tell. The finger follower wear issue that results in replacement under warranty is not a catastrophic failure. There will be misfire error codes and reduced power. If the failure were catastrophic potentially resulting in fire or loss of control then PAG would have to recall them in USA. For a car with build date of 8/14, that will be an "F" car, model year 2015. All E cars, model year 2014 had engines replaced due to the connecting rod fastener issue (which did result in at least 2 fires).

I know of one instance where a GT3 had the cvers off after a decent numbers of miles, and the top end looked like new. My 2015 GT3 has 27,500 miles and still runs strong. As PAG stated in our meeting, not all GT3’s will suffer finger follower failures. It depends on a variety of factors. Any 2014, 2015 and 2016 can have the problem, but failure is not guaranteed for any year. In fact, the chances any engine will fail is pretty small.
