Default Fair price on new R

Hey all,

Found a “new” never driven R that a VIP program customer is selling that I would like to make an offer on. What’s a “good” price on a nicely spec’d R right now?

Depends on SMFW or DMFW I think.

Great question. Will have to verify, not sure. I didn’t realize it had that significant of an impact

Problem with buying a car like that (new / delivery miles only) is that seller will demand a premium, but such premium will be wasted unless you intend to also keep it in bubble wrap. Is that what you intend to do?

Seems to me like a serious bummer to have such a great car and not feel good driving it for fear than any miles at all will instantly devalue it $50K or something.

If you want to drive it, why not buy one with some miles? Will pay less for it and actually get some enjoyment out of owning it.

I seen a new one (delivery miles only IIRC) in SLC about 3 weeks ago. They said it was sold for $350k. The question is do I believe them or not.... I would say $300-325.

If it has delivery miles, is not some crazy color combo, and has all the correct options (smfw, buckets, stripes), assuming a $210-215msrp, then 350ish sounds about right.

As I've mentioned before there is now two markets for these cars, one relatively stable market with the desirable options, and one with cars without said options that almost no one wants.

Id say 125k over MSRP is fair for both parties. 100k over is favorable to you, 140k over is favorable to seller.

As you can see doc, all very scientific assessments....just so many variables and as always dependent on the motivation of the seller.

cars are meant to be driven, even expensive ones
otherwise they are just huge paperweights
some people enjoy showing off their paperweights, some people sleep well at night with many expensive paperweights stored somewhere
i extract zero pleasure/comfort from that
