Great if you want to baffle your mates in similar cars. Would not mind giving them a try but as long as I cannot sort my extreme cording on rear outside tyre, I will give these a miss. Currently getting about 5-600 track km on outside rear so not keen on reducing that to half.
Ive gone through about 20 sets and threw them out with corded outer edges with the rest of the tire looking new.
So of the outer edge chunks and cords in the same amount of time, why not?
I’ll try a set but probably will continue to buy 295 / 345 R7 that act like normal tires so you can setup that car traditionally to get the most out of them, Much More rake for a super solid front end (so much more fun!) better gearing, cheaper, faster, lower center of Gravity and last longer.

I called local tire guy today to start working on getting a set of these tires and the corporate Michelin rep denied they exist and stated the only tires would be the cup 2 n2 that we’re getting on the rs already.
He also went on to say the N0 meant a new version and the R stood for revision. I hope this is just a poorly informed Michelin rep. Those tires look official as a new series/racing tire and not a one off set.
Does anyone have a connection either here or pm were I could discuss purchasing these type R tires?

The 991.2 RS that was running at the festival of speed past weekend was on Cup R tyres. It’s very much a legitimate tyre with type branding and all, so definitely a badly informed rep.

You mean these (on my old Grand Sport?). Untracked after 5K miles they were hardly worn. Can’t speak to track life. Noisy and harsh however. Not a comfortable street tire.

Yes, a friend of mine who is a semi-pro driver gets one fast day and half of a slow day out of a set of corvette specs compared to two fast days and one slow day from a set of GT3 MPSC2 tires. I can not speak about road wear of either. I hope the wear of the new Rs is closer to the normal MSPC2.

Guys direct from the horses mouth these are race compound tires. Typically our race slicks in a GTD level car are amazing for 90-120 mins of use MAX. so- if you heat cycle them 2-3x in a day do not expect to get much of anything from them on day 2.

So if you drive a hour and half to the track don't use the R's, unless you want to come home on a flat bed truck........

Point was- good for one day of heavy tracking at the posted lap times. Then big fall off.
These will be more expensive to run on the car vs hoosiers which you can always get two days out of...

The drive to the track can get "spirited" at times... but yes your right, not enough to get tires at full temp.
I think ill give them a try this fall, it will be interesting to see the wear difference and lap time difference from Cup2's.

It’s been said on the CorvetteForum and I agree having owned four sets of them, that getting some decent street miles on the MPSC2 ZP tyres; (around 200-300 miles), instead of going straight to the track on them, seems to help the tyres last longer on track. A form of heat cycling?
Perhaps the same might be true of the new SC2 ‘R’?

Also, too bad we did not get to share the track today at Laguna - saw you CJ at the drivers meeting but ended up dealing with oil leak instead of driving.
