Default New Cup 2 Tires...

Hey guys i am ready to order new tires for my 2015 GT3. From what i understand (I could be wrong) the 2018 GT3 uses improved Cup 2 tires relative to what came on mine. When i check tire rack i see N1’s offered for both gens, and they look the same. Are these the previous gen, or are new Cup 2’s the new default for all years?

Or i am totally wrong about this?

The only difference that I can see between the n0 and n1 spec tires is that the n1 tires have a rim protector bumper on the tire whereas the n0 sidewall is totally flat. They feel the same and wear the same on track for me

Okay thanks Joe! It looks like the N1 is standard for both gens, at least on tire rack.

Yes you want the N1, Rob. Yours came with N0 and the N1 are supposed to be faster (though I don't know anyone who has used both on the same car - you could be the first). I know Joe above has had N0 and N1, but I think that was on .1 and .2 GT3 (haven't tried both on the same car, right?).

I wonder if the N2s (from the .2 GT3RS) will be available for other cars. They are supposedly grippier than the previous iteration.

Thanks Grant. I will report my findings!

The N2 from the RS is similar compound to N1 in the GT3. They make it confusing by using different N numbering for different tire sizes...

Correct. I haven't tried them on the same car, but I believe maxltv recently has. Iirc he liked how the tires felt and thought they might be faster, but didn't get a faster time yet

Correct. The car felt a little more stable under hard braking - no shake side-to-side, more stable like with Pirellis or Bridgestones. But the difference was not big enough for me to be 100% sure the tires are responsible and not something else (although the car was unchanged).

I have the N1's as well, just haven't done too much track with them yet, only 5 laps. And about 5 months after the previous track day with the N0 spec (thanks to NE winter). So can't really give a great comparison.

Fried my tires this week in 100+ temperature at the track and surface temps at 125+. Ordered the new N1's and will report back after my next event at WGI third week in July.

Tried N0 N1 and N2. N2 seems stickier for the first 10 Nordschleife laps, then usual Cup 2 feeling.

They last very long btw !

Awesome! Hopefully that keeps the wheel metal off of contact with the floor when doing wheel removal and setting dowm flat.
