Does anyone know the backstory on this GT3 being auctioned at Copart?

Looks like it was the victim of a track crash.

+1 hit a tire wall from an on track crash. Interesting the front airbags didn't go off. Might be a good deal on the engine assuming no damage since there was no rear damage on the car.

Yup, agree it's a track accident. Likely hit a tire wall at a diagonal.

I'm posting to point out it has less the 2K miles before it got killed. Shame.

CCBs ~10k
Track wheels ~4k
Buckets ~6k?
Roll bar + belts ~2.5k?
Wing and decklid, shocks, etc... Would be a very cheap engine and trans for someone at 40k, looks likely to go much higher.

Looks like it hit the tire wall on the left and then rode up on it's side. Good thing he invested in track wheels...

yeah, the number plates on the doors pretty much tell the story.... track accident. I've been studying the pictures at the link and can't figure out if it was more than a track wall impact. The damage on the roof does not look like a rollover and the only glass with damage is the windshield, but the side windows would have been down at the track. It looks like the impact point was front left and then the car spun around and went down the other side, with something projecting up to the windshield and causing the roof damage.

I was hoping someone on this board would know the story on this specific car. Not that many GT3's get wrecked at track days, word gets around.

Look at the bright side, at least you don't need a wrap to make it look like a dirty track car!
